Help with power steering pump.

I am trying to fit this power steering pump on my 283. I need a pulley that will drive the pump. It needs to have a groove at 5.00 inch spacing from the face of the block. The two grooves in the picture are at 3.25 and 3.75 so I still need the inner groove (3.25 inch) to run the alternator. I guess if I am using the wrong pump or mount braket that would help to know. Perhaps there is a different pulley for the pump that would work. Any help will be appreciated.

Looks correct to me...except the part where the bullies don't line up.
If memory serves, your crank pully is not correct. My old Longhorn had the original set up, and it had a 2 pc crank pully.
Your alt and pump mounting look to be correct.

Andy, So all I need is an add-on section to my existing pulley? That would be nice. I have seen crank pulleys with like 4 or more grooves which is probably what I need.

It's been a while since I messed with the original pullies, (the GMC is set up with the newer pullies) but if memory serves....
Can someone confirm this for me?

Yea, everything looks right, except for the crank pulley. It should have 3 grooves if it came with power steering originally. At least mine does..

Patrick, I don't think just one groove will work since the power steering pump sits so far out...like another 1-1/4 inches from the second groove! It looks like I need a crank pulley with 4 grooves! Anyway...I probably have the wrong pump or bracket even though they bolt up. Perhaps there is another style of pump pulley that is offset to the rear to line up with the second groove.

If I make a new pump pulley or spend $25 on one, I know the pump will be bad and I will have to start all over...LMAO!

I think all you need is 1 more groove......its 2 pcs , like the other longhorn said. the last pulley for the steer pump does set a ways out from the other 2. Its been a while for me also, i have been running later model pump,& accessories. I think if you had air, or add on air the crank had 4 pulleys. good luck crazy longhorn

That looks right...it has to sit out a ways...like about 1 inch or so. Thanks...Randy is looking for one for me...but if anyone else has one laying around I will be glad to pay for it...providing Randy does not find one for me.

I had a similar issue when I put a pump on my 327. I hunted the junk yards for days and finally found a pulley with the correct offset on a mid-60's full size car SB with the factory PS set up. Most of the newer SB PS setups are somewhat different. I think Fast has some of pullies sitting around.
