Check out my ride
I am new to the site, but I wanted to share some pics of my pride and joy. It is a '67 swb w/small back window. It has a 1969 corvette 427 currently being rebuilt because of a bad mechanic. Let me know what you think.

Re: Check out my ride
Looks great to me - what is/has been done to the motor?
Welcome to the board!

Re: Check out my ride
Quote:
The motor was very original, low mileage right down to the factory plastic timing gear and chain. It ran very good when I got it about 6 months ago, except the valve seals were a little worn. I had a local mechanic replace them, but he also poured Rislone in the engine because of "sludge", without telling me. When I tore the motor down last week there was very little sludge. I went to get the truck and the valves were rattling. He told me I needed a new cam because some of my lifters and rockers were worn. So I did that did not fix the problem. Turns out it was a solid lift cam not hydraulic. To make a long story short, because I get mad when I think about it, the Rislone destroyed the coatings on my all of the bearings. Now, I am getting it built with a Crane 272 cam, Edelbrock intake and everything else is going to be basically stock. |

Re: Check out my ride
That motor just doesn't look right in there, it's the wrong color & everything, I think I should put that in my truck & you can have my SBC

Re: Check out my ride
Just another run of the mill, unbelieveably cool, stunning, killer ride . What we need now is audio/video of the Vette motor running.

Re: Check out my ride
Welcome from So. Calif. That's a REAL nice project. What's the interior look like? Those 427s were something like 11 to 1 compression weren't they? Will it run on pump gas or are you going to use lower comp. pistons?- Brian

Re: Check out my ride
Thanks for all of the positive comments. The interior is ok for a driver, but I am planning on taking it to the next level. It has something like 10.5 to 1 compression and it only likes the 93+. I am going back with the original type dome pistons. It is a torque monster, oh yeah and it has 3.73 gears.

BTW, Here's an interesting article on re-building a Corvette 427 called "Building a 427 for Today's World".

Sweet truck, man! I hate mechanics like that. There are two or three like that around here. Good Luck with the new rebuild.
