New wheels?
Any reason why theses won't work on my 71 gmc c1500? Want to use my original caps. Will they work on these? Just don't want to buy them to find out them don't fit or something. I figured some ones running them

Re: New wheels?
I'd ask Wheel Vintiques if stock hubcaps will fit. Then you need to determine if the backspacing works with your truck.

Re: New wheels?
Read the reviews on summit and they fit sqaure body hub caps and I put sqaure body caps on my gmc original wheels so they should fit. Logically anyway. Also used the sheach function and found a old thread the 15x8 s will work in the front no problem. Not shure how the 15x10 will fit the rear as fare as poke. Guy had a custom off set made.( rather not go threw the hassle)I don't want a lot because I want to lower it 4/6 at some point.

Re: New wheels?
15x8 on front can sometimes cause tire to rub fender lip when suspension compresses, depending on tire width, wheel backspacing, and if truck is lowered.
I have no experience with 10" wheels on the rear. What's your goal there? And tire size?

Re: New wheels?
My goal is to basically look like this. For tire size I was thinking 275 60 out back and 245 60 up front. With a 4/6 drop.

Re: New wheels?
That truck there is running the smoothie style wheels that don't accept stock hubcaps. They accept rallye wheel center caps and repro caps made specifically for those wheels.
The series 62 wheels have slots and outer nubs and are made to accept stock hubcaps.

Re: New wheels?
I have the 15x10 wheels and 4.5" BS with 7" drop. Also have a 275/60 tire
My truck is a 67 which I believe may be a different axle width than 71 |

Re: New wheels?
Looks good. I believe you right the 71 ups have a wider rear axle. Not shure how much but looks like thare is some room. And I only plan on 6 in the rear so I should be ok.

Re: New wheels?
Just to add some relevant info, I will chime in as well. I have the 15x8 on the rear of my truck. Stock caps fit fine, if anything a bit tight. I added two small holes on the side of the cap to pull them off with a pick. The one thing you have to look out for is drum clearance. I have the standard rear drums and the wheels just barely fit over the drum. Some trucks have bigger rear drums and these wheels will NOT fit over those unless you run a spacer. Other than that, the 15x8 on the rear has plenty of room. I don't have experience with the 15x10 but with 1.75" extra lip on the outside you are going to be very close to the wheel/tire rubbing if you have the wider rear axle (like mine has). On a mild drop it might not be an issue, but on my drop it would rub quite significantly.
As someone noted, if you run the 15x8 on the front with a drop spindle you will have interference with the lower arm. I tested these on the front but am currently running the stock 15x6. This can be remedied by clearancing the lower arm.

Re: New wheels?
i used the same 15x8 wheel in the front and back on my 72. I didn't have any issues at stock height or with the 3" coil drop. If I remember correctly, I do think you will have issues if you use drop spindles.

Re: New wheels?
Good to know I'll look into just doing a spring drop not to run I to issues with the wheel.
