Re: deal or not?
depends on who u ask i love inline sixes they are decent on fuel and very torquey. i've got a 292 I-6 and love it but parts performance wise can get expensive fast and the selection is limited. depends on what your plans are with it, ive seen a couple high hp sixes, but they'll never be as good as a v8 hp wise, especially when u calculate cost to hp ratio, they can create massive torque though. if your looking for a stock/original vehicle with maybe a little performance kick i feel the inline 6 will be fine. if your looking to go real wild, i'd go with a v8,(though some have installed turbos on the sixes) but if u feel u like the vehicle get it then if the 6 is lacking swap in a v8
id find out why its not running too, whether cuz of disuse or if its blown, might help u decide where u want to go motor wise. also bring a camera and take as many pics of what rust u find, then post and we can help tell u whats involved in fixing so u dont get in over your head, and leddzepp may be rite on the rust issue in your region where im from that's considered normal and expected so it doesn't catch my attention as much as it should. so locate all the rust u can find, and decide if it will be too much for u. Re: deal or not?
IMO, it is not worth your time. If you lived in the rustbelt that may be a good deal, but you live in Houston, and there should be trucks there that have way less rust than that one does.
I love inline sixes myself....when they run

Re: deal or not?
I would pass on that. You should be able to find a running truck with less rust for $1000.

Re: deal or not?
You'll be money ahead if you get a truck with less rust. IMHO

Re: deal or not?
that front end is from 69-72 but that spec grill is a 69-70. if u wanted to get into a 2 wd why would u buy a 4wd ? that's alot of parts swapping ull need to do.
based on his last answer of being a rust bucket an only good for a mud buggy I wouldn't even wasted my time on it. since u did buy it I would part the whole truck out make your money back + more an find a truck that has less rust that would make for a better project . good luck

Re: deal or not?
Make sure you support the body somehow before removing it from the frame!

Re: deal or not?
you will also need to support it from front to back since the top is off.

Re: deal or not?
The only place I know of is in the door frame but I would do some searching before you do it. There is a blazer section here and I know that some of the guys have done this, maybe go there and ask for the best way to remove the body from frame with the top off.

Re: deal or not?
Nice buy 2wd or 4wd if you want to go 4wd its actually pretty easy and you can get probally more than you paid just in selling parts you wont need like the trans and tranfer case
