Brake light still wont go off.

I have bench bled the M/C, installed new s/s front brake lines, prop. valve, calipers, braided brake lines, rear wheel cylinders, rear flex line, bled the system numerous times, gravity bled the system 2 times, and the brake light is still on. The new prop. valve is shaped differently than the original one. I purchased a new one from Chevy Duty. It seems like there is fluid at the bottom of the prop. valve. I am getting very tired of dealing with this problem. Any ideas? Or suggestions.

Re: Brake light still wont go off.

check the wire coming off the p vavle and follow it and see if it is grounding somewhere that will make the light come on

An easier way to do that, would be to unplug that brown wire and see if the light goes off. If it stays on, then the wire is grounded elsewhere.

Re: Brake light still wont go off.

It is likely that the switch in the p-valve is stuck from the previous brake problem. Do what Longhorn suggested and unplug it to see if the light goes off.

What about the emergency brake? Do these trucks have a light for that? None of the idiot lights ever worked on my truck so I dont know if there is an indicator light for the e-brake.

Re: Brake light still wont go off.

Hows your brake pedal freeplay. You need to have some play before the brake rod starts pushing the master cylinder piston . I like to have about 1/4 to 3/8ths of an inch.

Re: Brake light still wont go off.

I did pull the wire off the prop. valve while the truck was running and the light went out. I will try to bleed it a few more times, and see what happens.
