tranny help.drive no work

my 1972chevy c10 with 350 and 350 tranny wont move when i put it into drive or L2. only moves on reverse and L1. also hear a kinda winding noise when its in drive and press the gas. it when out after i reversed the truck and then put it in drive and thats when it all started. please can anyone help of what this can be.

have you checked the fluid level?

don't even start it until you find the stick and put some fluid in it. The front pump will burn up if you will run it low on fluid. The dipstick comes up behind the passenger side head.

found it. fluid is good. tranny warm and car idle.fluid good. could the rear end be the problem
