Transmission fluid leak
Transmission fluid is leaking from the speedometer gear. I don't have the manuals to look it up so does the speedo gear have a O-ring or gasket that could be leaking? Thanks in advance.
Ps-Iwill be getting a Service Manual soon.

There is an o-ring around the "bullet" that the gear goes in and a metal clad or rubber seal, depending on the type of bullet, inside.

The speedometer gear can also get a groove worn in it from rubbing on the internal seal, so just replacing the seal may not fix the leak.

If there is fluid in the speedo cable, it's the inner seal. If the cable is dry, it's the outer o-ring. To remove the bullet, jack the rear of the truck up so the fluid flows to the front, and less comes out when you remove the bullet.
