Angry Motor Problems

Just had motor rebuilt, now the oil level on the dip stick is high, and the oil smells like gas. Fuel pump is new. Bad? Any other ideas?? First day back from off frame restoration, now this.

A small hole in the fuel pump's diaphragm can allow a portion of the fuel pumped thru to leak down into the block opening behind the pump where the pump's eccentric lever sticks thru. If so, the gas flows into the pan from there. Pull the pump and check if the diaphram holds vacuum.
