factory in bed spare tire carrier help

Anybody have a fleet side with one that is original? I would like to see a pic of exactly where it mounts and I would like to see the original bolt/hardware that holds the tire on.
Any info appreciated guys!

Jeff

Re: factory in bed spare tire carrier help

I will get you a pic of the spare mount. But don't have any of the hardware to actually hold the tire.
I will post the pic tomorrow. Dark here now

Re: factory in bed spare tire carrier help

There's a hole in the bedside where it touches the floor that is just forward of the wheel tub. One bolt will go through there and the other will go through the hole that is just forward of that which will already have a bolt in it. I had some pics of one that was installed but I can't seem to find em. Try sending a PM to Cyclone44. He's the one I sent the pics to and sold the carrier to.

Re: factory in bed spare tire carrier help

Hey Jay is that on the drivers side? The assembly manual shows it on the drivers side and it lines up perfectly with the original holes in the floor but it looked like it was to far back to me. The manual is not real clear on exactly where it goes nor does it show the tire mounting hardware.
Thanks for the pic!

Re: factory in bed spare tire carrier help

Here's the pic, but I see one has already been posted. Hope it helps any way. Mine is on the driver side as well. May move it to the passenger side if I don't put a spare tire carrier under the bed.

Re: factory in bed spare tire carrier help

You will most likely want it mounted on the left side as it will be completely out of your line of vision over there.

Re: factory in bed spare tire carrier help

OK, it looks like they were mounted using the original holes/carriage bolts in the floor, so new holes will only have to be rilled in the upper location.
Anybody have any pics of what the original mounting hardware would look like?

Thanks for the great pics guys.

Jeff

Re: factory in bed spare tire carrier help

Another driver's sider here. My truck has it listed as an option.

I don't think I've ever seen pictures of the original mounting hardware. That's going to be tough to find.

Re: factory in bed spare tire carrier help

LMC sells hardware for the 73+ version, but I think it should be the same. I just went to the hardware store and bought a long carriage bolt big enough that the square part doesn't rotate in the slot, and a wing nut to fit. I can store an X-type lugnut wrench and 2 1-gallon jugs of water behind the tire, keeps the bed clean.

Re: factory in bed spare tire carrier help

Anyone has a picture of the hardware that holds the tire to the bracket?

I've been looking for one of these for a LONG TIME. Are they the same as a blazer?
