there should be one on each side behind that that i believe is for stepside's? it's not needed for fleetsides, and your p/o has apparently cut it off. it also serves as a support.

my circle is the green one

blue=previous owner repair>rust hole
red=support=bolt through to bed>no bolt through bed
green=previous owner mistake<support's bed<matthufham
