Re: Bumper gaurd part numbers?

I have an old parts manual from May 1977 that shows:

6264224 R.H.
6264223 L.H.

Series 10 thru 30 conv, 4 w/d and Blazer

GM was famous for changing part numbers through the years.

I just scored a NOS pair of the ones with these part numbers off Ebay. They appear to fit 67-72 trucks.

I'm pretty sure these are correct NOS. I thought I read some old posts on here that indicated that GM offered the 71-72 guards with the ribs on them, maybe later in the run? I believe special-k on here said he bought some oem guards with ribs on them. He also noted that the oem guards have thicker sides on them than aftermarket. The ones you and I were watching (and that I bought) seem to have the correct thick oem sides. The first pic below is of an aftermarket one with the thin sides. Second ones are thick oem.

For those who are curious, heres a pic of the ones I bought and that "too much stuff" was watching. They look like oem. I guess I will find out shortly.

Re: Bumper gaurd part numbers?

It was a good buy. I was going to bid if no other bids came in. I prefer the shorty 67-70 gaurds personally.

Re: Bumper gaurd part numbers?

Ok, I just e-mailed the seller and this is what he said exactly (grammar mistakes and all), for whatever its worth, "Yes they [the boxes] was sealed, I got them at gm dealer with other old gm parts I bought, some gm guards bought over the counter have ribs on the pads."

Re: Bumper gaurd part numbers?

This is strange. After telling me these are NOS GM, the seller refunded me my money and said he had to research whether these are really NOS GM.
