I agree. For that kind of pricing I could make the same thing and still have $$$ left over. Some people think they can get they're time and full $$$ out of it.

Well, that truck was professionally built. From what I understand, the builder has a reputation for doing quality work. If that is the case, he may very well get that kind of money out of it. None of us probably could as individuals, though.

Cool Re: Red Rocker for sale

That is a nice but 35k i dont care who built it or what rag it was in i just dont think he'll get that kind of scratch for it.

That '83 Stepper is a nice truck too but 12k Damn that means mine must be worth about 35k when compared to that one.

I agree that most folks underestimate what it costs to build something as nice as that. However, note that they said "build it," not "get it built." You have to remember that you are one of the few on here who has that option. Most of us will never have $35,000 to spend on any vehicle, especially not a toy.

Exactly! Hell, there's likely at least $10k in the paint alone. . .

There's easily another 10-15 in the interior work too.

Re: Red Rocker for sale

Well often on Barrett Jackson you hear of restorations costing 40-50k so just maybe it did cost 35k to build red rocker or close to it. If I pay 35k I would like to have a 572 big block and gear vendors overdrive with mine.

Re: Red Rocker for sale

As much as I like to think mine will be very nice, I'll have come fairly close to that much $$$ spent and not have that nice of a truck. Jason Hill does PHENOMINAL work, and I'd say that's a somewhat fair price for that truck.

Re: Red Rocker for sale

I have about 22k in reciepts on my truck thats not including all junk yard trips and swap meet cash spent. and I havent even started to plan the interior or audio system. That is a great deal for a turn key bad a$$ truck! The only bad thing is how can any one who buys the truck be proud of a truck they didnt build.

Agree. After seeing this post I started counting up in my head and I'm sitting about 20k with out the interior or audio (and I'm not looking to do NEAR the custom interior that truck has!). And I'm sure I'm missing stuff and definately not counting my time/labor.

I can see for someone who lacks the skill to do it themselves but has the $$$ to spend, it'd be a hell of a truck to own.

Re: Red Rocker for sale

Maybe You Could Build A Truck For Less. But This Truck Was Profesionaly Built And The Build Was Completely Documented.
I Cant Speak For Anyone But My Self. But It Would Take Me Years To Build A Truck Like That Because I Dont Have A Bunch Of Extra Cash Burning A Hole In My Pocket. But If You Did, Just Think In One Shot You Would Have A Pro. Built Custom Show Truck. You Know There Is Way More Into That Truck Than $35k. Im Sure Things Were Donated Or Marked Down By The Companys Who Sponsored The Build
In Reality I Dont Think You Could Build That Same Truck With The Same Parts For $35k J.m.o......

Re: Red Rocker for sale

I'm personally happy to see them going for 35 000 -- Makes my little shortbed stepper, and K25 worth more if they do sell for that much!

Re: Red Rocker for sale

Just so you guys understand, I am not saying the truck is worth 35k or that I think it will bring 35k. It probably won't if I had to make a bet. What I am saying is that it amazes my at how everyone jumps in and says I can build three trucks for that kind of money...blah, blah blah.

I have built them myself in my own garage using begged, borrowed, and stole.....er traded for parts, along with my own labor. And we know that I have als paid to have them built. I can personally attest to what it cost to put a really nice truck together. It is NOT cheap......
