Tach Question

I was showing someone my truck the other day and when he saw my tach he said I had a grain truck tach. He said the 1/2 tons came with 7000 RPM tachs from the factory and the heavier trucks 40/50 series etc. came with the 5000 RPM tachs. The tach was in my truck when I bought it and I know its not original cause I have the GM info package for my truck. Now I've never seen a 7000RPm tach in one of these trucks and also realizing that when you think you have all the answers ,you havent heard all the questions wasn't surprised to find this on EBay. Is he right guys? The Tach in this dash looks factory to me.

The Ebay auction # is 7979729180. I tried to figure out how to link it to this site make it easier to but couldn't.

Already Gone,
All I do to post a link is hilight the text in the address bar of whatever browser I'm using, then copy it to my clipboard (CTRL-C), then I just paste it (CTRL-V) into the text I'm typing. Like this: http://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8
Most times it works fine...

All stock 67-72 applications big trucks and small with gas engines had the 5k tach. The diesels had a mechanical tach ( I have one somewhere ) that had a redline in the 3-4 k range as I racall.

Hey Stingray !!

Hi Ray, thanks for the info. So there probabbly wasn't a 7k tach then. I thought this guy was B*** Sh***** anyway but like I said there is always something new to learn. You going out to Radisson this coming Sunday for the Show & Shine?
