Nobody wants my old 71

I put my 71 Chev longbox up for sale a while ago and to date nobody has actually come out to see it. There was a fellow who said that he would come out at 5:30 but by 6:30, no show. That is the worst part about selling ANYTHING........the no shows. I'm not real upset about it not selling, but it does change my plans somewhat. It means I pull the 71 350 and replace the 86 350 that is in the 72 that I bought. I can get some bits and bobs and then see if there is anything that others might be interested in. For my previous plan I was going to use the disc brake front end but now I won't need that. But maybe I can use the power brake unit? I'll have a quick look at the parts wanted section and see if that helps me decide for sure. I probably won't have the 72 here until the end of the week at the earliest so I've got time to do some stripping.

Re: Nobody wants my old 71

I'm not being sly, it hurts that you would think that. It was a gripe, I hate waiting for people who say that they will be right over and then never show, don't call to cancel.....nothing. I was thinking that I would offer up parts to people for the cost of postage and they could donate the value of the part to the site. The rest of the truck will be going to the crusher so I would like to see as many parts used as possible. When I had a quick look at the parts section I actually read the agreement for selling parts. I also noticed that it was fine for someone to take orders for parts that they hadn't picked up yet. I guess if you want to, you can read between the lines even if there is nothing there.

Sorry if it came off like I was pointing fingers at you, but it's been a common thing for non subscribers to post for sale threads. If that was not your intention then I apologize.

Actually it was not, and the thread was moderated

Sorry if you were offended. I HATE when people do the no show thing.. I have had folks email and call etc about a dog we had up for adoption and never show. After the 6th or 7th person pullin a no show we just pulled the ad. Its frustrating as heck..

Re: Nobody wants my old 71

I`m sorry you haven`t been able to sell.I must admit,I had the same question that LHM had after reading your post.It definately started off as a gripe and it is the biggest drawback about selling. That`s why people trade-in vehicles at a loss all the time.If you had mentioned your plan for donating it would not have appeared questionable at all.I think it would be great for someone to domate a subscription for a part. Also,I believe anyone can respond to a WTB.Am I right? That could be your first transaction.
I think your plan to donate value of parts to the site is a noble one. Before subscriptions became mandantory to sell many members would offer a % of sale price to the board.

Peter.... sorry man, I did not mean to offend. However, you'd be amazed at the way some people will work so hard to be sly and get around the rules. Sometimes ppl get away with it... sometimes we stop them just as they start.

Re: Nobody wants my old 71

No offense taken. Before I can bring my the other truck home this one has to go. It was the end of a long week and I was on edge, so probably took any comments to heart. I've got a laminate floor to put down to keep the wife happy and will buy the time to do some work on the 71. I'm also fixing up some small problems with the 90 that I will sell so that I can replace the money I borrowed to get the 72. It's all very confusing and is only clear to me because of this second cup of coffee. I'm off this week so I'm hopeful some progress will be made.

Re: Nobody wants my old 71

this time?
for the record, i have never been suspended from any job I've ever had.
Back to the actual question... I was in a mild traffic accident in a shop truck... and I do mean mild. Never popped the air bag, no damage at all to the H3 i rear ended... but he gets on a rant yellin that all accidents are preventable and blah blah blah.
It's OK, i was lookin for a job when i found that one. I was soooooo close to tellin him that I was putting in my 2 weeks on the spot when he got all stupid. with the one week suspention, and the 7 days of paid vacation I have saved right now... I woulda just grabbed my tools and told him to mail me my next 3 pay checks.
But I know you never quit when there's nothing lined up.

It's all good though... so far, I am making more on the side than i am at work.
Screw him.

Sorry, if I am off subject here. But when is a car or a truck becomes a parts vehicle? How far does it need to be gone?

when ever the owner or purchacer says he/she is gonna part it out.
The stuff that you guys in so-cal part out/scrap, are the vehicles that ppl out here in the midwest dream about owning one day.
