Build thread for my 77
I found a 77 GMC short bed stepside. An original 454, dual tank, F44 truck.
It was ordered with the RPO 71D and went to a custom shop for mods. It has been a journey of trying to figure out what parts came from what. It uses an 89 grill and headlight bezels with horizontal fendere marker lights but the hood and fenders still don't seem right for an 89. Part of my trade for it was the owner got to keep the 454 and tranny. After an exhaustive search I ended up with a 2015 6.0 and 6L90 with 9,000 miles on them. I wasn't looking for a 6.0 but that's what I found as a full pull out. 2 1/2 spindle drop in the front and 4" in the rear. Here are a few pics of the build - Not me in pic - a friend helping out - pun intended It is in the body shop for paint now so hopefully in a few weeks I can update with some almost finished pictures. Re: Build thread for my 77
I went to the body shop yesterday to check on the progress. Cab is finished and they have started on the bed. Pulled the fenders, steps and etc. rust situation looks pretty good.
Couple of weeks. Can't wait to drive this thing more than around the block. |
