need some frame pics please
Hey guys, the mounts on my frame for the cab/bed are rotted, I was going to have my welder just weld a washer in but I was just reading somewhere the pre-81 frames (mine is an 80) had "D" shaped holes and not circular. Can anyone confirm, post up a pic or measurement? I gotta get these fixed somehow. Thanks! Its a regular cab short bed 2wd if that helps.

Re: need some frame pics please
there are tons of build threads in this sections and lots of frame off, I'd look there and see what you can find.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...345612&page=79 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...327474&page=11 that's 2 right off the top of the list that have frame off pics and such. if nothing else pm them or reply in their threads, from what I've seen they look round. Why would d shaped or round matter? Body mounts I'd guess? Also they are pretty good sized holes can ya get washers with a huge hole like that in them?

Re: need some frame pics please
looks like the two in front of the axle are oblong shaped across the frame...

Re: need some frame pics please
that's the bed mounts they ARE oblong definately, to allow you to move it forward. I think he meant cab mounts and front rad. support mounts.

Re: need some frame pics please
wont matter whether they are circular or D shaped. as long as the cab mount is pressed securely and even on the washed that you had welded on that it won't go anywhere. and i would just tac the washers on first then drop the cab to see if it lines up good then weld the sucker on. and weld it solid or put silicone on to prevent rust coming through the washer.
2nd that, just center the washer on the width of the mount, should be good Last edited by tazman87; 09-30-2010 at 06:37 PM. |
