front and rear sway bars

Going to be lowering my 67 soon but i want some stability till i can come up with the right kit for lowering my truck. I drive it every chance i get...
whats the best sway bars to buy?

I have the hotchkis TVS setup... but you can just buy the sway bars separately... i like the blade style rear one as it mounts in between the frame and the trailing arms...

WOW! Hotchkis has some great stuff! I am budget minded though. I don't have to have the best and i cant afford it. However I did some checking and I also like the blade style for the rear. I need to at least get me some sway bars like soon... I have a traction problem also I got an eaton posi and installed in Dec. hoping that would help but only a little.
I guess I have a lot of research to do... It's just so time consuming.

Get a factory 1 1/4" front bar from the wrecking yard buy some poly bushings & endlinks for it - problem solved. Then search 'Camaro rear sway bar' on this site, and find one of those in a wrecking yard for the rear - don't forget the frame mounts too when you pull it. Any 3rd or 4th Gen Camaro bar will work - the 3rd Gen IROC rear bars are 15/16", the others will be 7/8". Buy an axle mount kit for a 3" axle (UMI has them, along with many others), since the Camaro rearend only has 2.75" tubes. Get a poly endlink set for this too.

yes, research is time consuming, but it's the only way to make sure you know what you need before spending (or wasting) money.

I do like to do things. Just like you have suggested. Till I can get the money together for the good stuff. I will also be converting to disk brakes and 5 lugs. If I can find a disk brake set-up in the yard as well. And rear shafts with a 30 spline. I have the rear break set-up i just need the axle shafts.
If I am able to get this done using local salvage yard parts I will have more money for my wheels.

Keep in mind the factory 5-lug axles are .75" longer than your 67's 6-lug axles. I would look under 73-87 hf trucks for the front bar (duallys/burbs etc....). Do the front 1st as it makes the biggest difference.

even on a 70-72 truck with a 5 lug 12 bolt? i would think they would be a direct swap?

hf trucks? I found a 84 and 87 Chevy trucks at the salvage yard. Are you saying these axles would work?
I also saw a dodge sway bar that might work for the front. I did some measuring and I will be going back tomorrow to see if they might work. 35 bucks for each sway bar. I guess that's better than $136 for aftermarket. I still will need to ether fab some brackets and buy some end links. Not sure if the front sway bars on the 84 and 87 would work. No end links just bushings and bar clamps.

HD not hf. Didn't notice the miss-spell within the allowed time for editing. HD (heavy duty) trucks (C20 burbs, C30 duallys, or C&C trucks) typically have the larger 1.25" sway bars. The factory method for securing the sway bar was the bushing/bar clamp arrangement @ both the frame & a-arm. End links might be required for an alternative style of bar.

You'll need to get aftermarket axles that are the correct length & have a 5x5 5-lug pattern. 5-lug factory/OE truck axles from 1971-1987 are longer than the 63-70 6-lug truck axles despite the fact they're 30-spline.

Nope. When they went five-lug / disc brakes, the track got wider. They widened the rear the same amount.

I wound up using a front sway bar off of a suburban 1978 I think. I had to remove rivets from the frame brackets. But it bolted right up on my 67. Which never had one but the wholes were there for me to use. The bar and brackets only cost me some time and $20.
I don't know if I really need or how much the camaro rear bar will Help. The front has made a big difference.

Burrows salvage yard! The original owner pass a few weeks ago! Eagle mountain salvage right next door charges 3x the amount...but it's a much bigger yard! It's right on the service road just before lake worth.
