Re: 65 C10 4x4 conversion

I'm trying to remember how mine came out and I installed a 292 engine and cross member in mine I think you have it correctly. My truck was already converted or should I say that the P.O.(previous owner) had already swapped a 64 2wd body on a early 70's
4x4 frame....

When he got the truck the frame was all butchered, so he repaired the top flange of the frame and just drilled new holes, We used the bellhousing in it's stock location to locate the engine. I have no idea how it's location compares to the original holes. That was about 5 years ago. My son now lives 350 miles away, so I can't just go measure it.

Where you mount your engine really doesn't matter that much. I prefer to have them as close to the cab as comfortable so as to get as much weight to the rear as possible. Of course if you are using the original bellhousing on it's crossmember, that will dictate where the engine mount crossmember must be. Since you are using a non-original crossmember, you may not be able to use any original holes.
