Rearend gears
Is anyone running 3.73 rear gears with a th350? Wanting to know what RPMs your running at 60 mph?

I am... around 3,000 to 3,200 if I remember right.

Lot of trucks came stock with 3.73 gears. Here is a calculator to run the numbers for your specific setup.

I just installed a 3.73 rear end. It's about 2700 at 60 with 33's.

What rpm is ideal for long stretches of time on a flat highway w/o blowing up a stock 350 v-8?

For highway driving, the lower the rpm the better as long as you don't get down too far under 1800 or so. You don't want the engine to be wound up tight but you also don't want to be loading it all the time by lugging it. In my opinion, 3000 rpm for sustained driving is way too much. 2000 is much more pleasant and easier on the engine in the long haul.
