help used posi carrier locking up
the new ring install went great with the help i got from you all but the used posi from the junk yard is locking up it does not do it all the time i put about 150 miles on it hopping it would free up it seems to be doing it more when it heats up from diving is there anything i can do to save it ? oh and yes i did add the posi oil thaks frank

Did you take the possi apart and go through it?
I assume by locking up it won't go around a corner without sliding the tire(s). I have only seen them seriously lock up when the spider gears were chewed up or the clutches were rusted together. My suggestion would be tp pull the cover and check it out! Jim

i did not take it apart it is not sliding the tire kind of like it is not releaseing and not all the time a guy told me to do figure 8 s in a large parking lot i did and it did fine but when i went to pull out it did it the spider gears look fine

The possi units are engaged at all times so the plates or other locking mechanisms have to slip when the truck goes around a corner.
I assume you have a clutch type possi unit and not a "gove" unit. If it is a clutch possi, try adding more possi additive. Jim

use royal purple synthwetic instead of regular and the additive

i went ahead and took the posi clutch out they seam fine but they are sticking too eash other but it seams to be from the grease is this normal and if not what can i clean them with ? brake cleaner?

the posi in my '70 was doing the same thing! i added posi fluid(cheap stuff) to it when i filled it with valvoline 85/90 dino gear oil and added more posi additive. it was still sticking. i drained the fluid, added some GM posi additive and mobil 1 gear oil and cured the problem...

cleaned the posi pack with brake cleaner and add gm oil and addiv works great thank for the help frank
