RFID Push Button Start

Has anyone used one for there truck? There's a few out there, but I think they are all made in China to save on cost. I want to find one that will lock my doors when I walk away and open as I walk up to it. It would be nice to buy something other people have used. Companies I have seen, GalloTech, Advance Keys, Guard Dog. Guard Dog told me Flamming River and Ididit use there units. Seems a little high for China made. Prices range from $259 to $499

MIght want to read some of the articles in this search on RFID theft. First thing that came to mind when I read your post was how secure China's tech industry is to keep bad guys from getting hard and software to defeat the systems.

I would be a little nervous having so much of the trucks functions tied to electronics. My 48 is a electronics hog from windows that roll down by remote to electronic door poppers that function by remote. I still kept a manual way to access the cab if all else fails. Anymore I'm going with less (electronics) is more...My 53 Suburban will have less of this extra STUFF..

One of the reasons I thought about push button is because I wasn't sure about having the key ignition in the dash make it really easy for someone to look under the dash cut the wires and start the truck so I just thought maybe put the button somewhere else to make it harder to try to get out to steal the truck. I'm using a Johnny Law key ignition right now because is was the only one that would fit inside my dash, had a hard time trying to find one to fit right not a lot of room between the whole and the back portion of the dash

Same reason I was considering an RFID ignition from Guard Dog. I'm currently using the same switch as you. A couple wires with alligator clips would make a quick and easy bypass of that switch. What I plan to do is just put a hidden in-line switch for the ECM power or fuel pump relay. Or even easier, I could just pull the fuel pump relay or a fuse.

In a previous car of mine I hid a switch that powered the coil. It may not completely stop a thief but would surly slow them down.

Pros and cons either way I guess.
I have a push button start on my Suburban due to the column I used.
It is not operated by RFID instead I have multiple switches that will need to be activated to work. They are well hidden and outside my Father In Law and myself I doubt anyone would be able to figure it out quickly

Years ago, I added a manual cutoff switch on the electric fuel pump I was running. Had the switch right out in the open on the dash with one of those aircraft covers.
Was the best anti-theft device I could ever have had. Every time I loaned out the truck I got a call sooner or later that the truck had died and wouldn't start. Even after I told them to just not mess with the switch, people would shut it off and forget to turn it back on. Even happened to my wife several times...and she knew what the switch was for.
