Re: New Chevy commercial!

That is a great commercial. It's been out for a month or so as far as I know. Damn near brings a tear to my eye every time I see it. Here is a link I stole from one of the other threads about it:

Re: New Chevy commercial!

That one kinda bothered me. He has this great classic truck, its been in the family and he has it at a shop being worked on. I mean come on has he not turned a wrench on it this whole time. Maybe its just me but if you drive an old truck you need to be able to work on it.

I Drive an "Old Truck", but after 7 Surgeries, I'm not able to work on it anymore.
But with that Dissability, I've made a GREAT NEW FRIEND,
with my Owner of the Shop that now does all my work.
I'm treated like Family and NOT a Customer.
Sometimes one door closes and another opens.
Very thankful for all the connections I've made with
Upholstery, Rear end, and other speciaty Shops/People.

Re: New Chevy commercial!

I have turned many wrenches on my trucks but certainly have taken them to a shop once in a while too. I am no mechanic, and can't do everything on my truck.

This is a hobby everyone can enjoy, not just those that have the ability to fix everything on their trucks.

Re: New Chevy commercial!

I don't understand why the mechanic comes out and says "your getting a new truck", why would he be getting a new truck? Who's buying him the new truck? The truck wasn't in a body shop, it hadn't been wrecked and if it had what insurance company would give him 50 grand to buy a new truck? (assuming it was an insurance job) Can someone explain this to me! Did I miss something?

Re: New Chevy commercial!

I think it means that the truck is too old and needs too much work to make it worth fixing - therefore, he'll have to get a new one ( with or without insurance ) So he gives the shop owner a blank check.

Yea but it was the mechanic making the decision for him, as though some authority such as an insurance company was forcing the decision on him. He went as far as to tell him to go get his stuff out, as though it were a done deal. I know, I know, I'm being picky! They should have had the mechanic come out and make a suggestion to the guy instead of a decision, then it would have been a perfect comercial, well almost, the chick could have been wearing some Daisy Dukes!

I took it like most movies or TV shows - there's as bit of unrealistic stuff there to make a point, the point in this case being that he (and I) would rather have a classic Chevy than any new truck.

If the truck had no sentimental value I would take a new truck, sell it for 50 grand (or what ever its worth after the instant depriciation) to finance a new pre 73 project with enough money to make it into the perfect truck.

Re: New Chevy commercial!

Yeah this one got me ---- why you say, well because the truck that I have (1970) 1/2 ton was my fathers he purchased brand new when he started at the truck plant in Michigan. I remember riding home in it when my mother dropped us off to pick it up. still has the protect-o-plate in the glove box and canceled title from 1970 remember the little green ones.
