How much you got into your truck?

Mine is slo...quickly approaching $12k, and I still haven't done the interior, the motor, finished the bed, nor it it body dropped yet.

I need to make sure that I am not the only one in this boat.

Come on now, speak the truth!

BTW, that includes the price of the truck.

Not counting regular stuff, like fluids and brakes. I probly have somewhere around 4.5k in my truck. Almost 2k of that was when the crate engine and accessories went in. Everything else is pretty much regular replacement of parts, like radiator, water, pump, etc.
I got the truck for free, so I think Im sittin' pretty

Im at about $7500 with my 79, including the $1500 buying price. Now if I had bought all my stuff from dealerships and paid full price, it would be about $9000 or so.
On my 78, with the $3250 buying price, Im at about $10,000.

Wow, some of you guys are in deeper than me...sweet! Dont worry, I will make up some ground this summer.
When I tell people how much I have in mine, they look at me in disbelief.

I do feel much better now.

Talking

I bought my 78 stepside in 1980 for 4,200 dollars.
it came witha 6 banger three on the tree. 5 motors (3 sixes, 2 V-8 , three trannys( 2 three speeds, 1 turbo 350) 1 paint job, 3 hoods, 1 new interior, 2 bed wood kits, lowered 4/6 with notch frame 2 bumpers front and back. countless stereos , carpet replacements , 3 windshields, 2 steering columns it go on and on. 5k in the last year. I bet in the excess of 25 k. But its worth more then the purchase price. I was worth every cent jay

Too damn much.

Let's put it this way, in excess of 20 grand and still not done. Of course, I have kept tabs on every penny I've spent on it.

Over $7500 in a 79 K5 I just listed for sale for $3200

Never intended to sell this truck. Just finished the mechanicals including a crate a couple years ago. Was ready to start on the body and interrior. This was my Wifes DD. Served as our main vehicle for 5 years. Just isn't working for her anymore with two kids in tow all the time and she needed a car.

Good news is I'm currently shopping for a 88-91 Burb as my DD. Need it to pull our Airstream. Might be buying a 88 with 71k tomorrow if I can get the guy to come off the price a little.

I bought mine from a Ford wrecking yard for $1500, and drove it home. (ran out of gas of course..lol) That was about $5000 ago. I replaced everything under the hood except the block and I am saving for a crate motor to finish that up. The interior is done except for a seat. New glass and rubber all around, rear end, tranny, entire brake system, (even the brake lines) are new or rebuilt. It is a nice , clean work truck with no payments

I'm somewhere around $6 or $7k. I'm not really sure....I haven't kept track. I do know there's not much left of the original truck. I've had the truck for 8 years, and it's been through a lot of changes. It's definitely in a lot better shape now than when I got it. I think it's as dependable as a newer truck and it's been on the road for 22 years, and it's got a lot more character than any new truck......there's not another one quite like it on the road. And, like others have said, no payments!
