need to see some electric fan installs

would like to see some e-fan install on big block trucks to see what ive got in store. i know there will be clearance issues with lwp, bought a mark VIII today so if theres anyone out there with this kinda fan please post pics!

Wow Daja Vue I just posted this in the Blazer side, My new ride has a Flex_Lite fan and no shroud Scares the crap out of me. Thinking of running Electric myself.

I don't have any pics but I installed one on my truck, but it is only a small block. I tried to use it with the factor schroud but couldn't do it and didn't like the way it looked by itself. I did trim mine about 3/4" so it was less than 5 inches talk at the motor

I have a bbc in my truck with a short water pump with a 14" electric fan. I left the fan shroud in for hwy driving, but I am going to take it off. The truck never gets hot, as it has the huge 4 core radiator in it. There is about a 1/4" gap between the water pump shaft and the fan motor. I could have offset the fan, but I like it centered. Sorry, no good pics yet.

Already got the fan and relay kit ready for the install.....

I tested this inside the shroud and it moves some serious air.

Do a search on Mark 8, When I was looking I remember there was a memeber that had installed it and he was running a 396 with no problems. I think he had to trim it but that is not a bid deal. I just sold mine last week, it was ready to mount.

I have one installed on a 68 core support w/a 4-row factory radiator that I can get a pic of later tonight after work.

It's not installed on a running/completed truck though. Currently it's just a mock-up (fan/shroud, radiator, core-support bolted together)..... Would that work for you?

I was told that those Taurus ones pull a lot of amps. Something like 45 amps. Just a thought in case you don't have the right alt or relays.....

yep i know. going with 100 amp minimum maybe 140. place in calgary has chrome powermasters for 100 bucks for the 100 amp and 140 bucks for the 140 amp.

I have the mk8 fan and a 454 with a 4 core radiator. I had to trim the shroud and mounted it off center so the wp pulley would clear. I'm running a 105A alt and a PWM fan controller. I don't have any pics, maybe I'll come up with some this weekend.
With the BBC in the stock frame location, you'll have about 1/2" between the long wp pulley and your radiator. It was too close for my liking, so I stuck with the short wp setup.
This setup kept me cool all this summer without a/c. I got that working right about when it started cooling off (typical for me). With outside temps in the upper 80's it ran warm with the a/c on but never got too hot.

im still mulling the idea of a short pump, then i gotta find ALL the brackets for it and pulleys so i wanna stick with the long. definetly have to offset the mounting of the fan cuz it will hit the motor probly for sure. it will be close but i have i pic and if it hit around the area where i outlined i could probly just take out one of the fan supports and have the pulley go inside the shroud a bit as long as it didnt hit the fan. i dunno im just throwin some ideas around

You don't have to center the fan, if you mount it to the driver side edge you should have plenty of clearance.

these trucks got pretty wide rad's so like totalchevy says il be mounting as far to the driverside as possible but with a mark VIII fan im thinking it will be pretty tight

Moving it to one side should keep the fan and the pump centers away from each other. Plus if you have at least 1/2" clearance between the pump and the fan you'll be fine. The motor doesn't move that much, unless you lose a motor mount, then your screwed anyways. Have you trimmed it. I took 3/4" off the schroud which put the high point at just under 5 inches. It gave the fan about 1/4" clearance between it and the rad. They guy I sold it to said it works great, just make sure you secure it...its a strong fan. If you us the pull through deals I would use 6 of them

A taurus fan and a long water pump with a bbc will not fit. I had mine slid back 3/4 of an inch (73 up mounts) and it was still too tight. I don't remember whether it could be slid side to side to clear but it was just too tight for me. I ended up putting it in my friends 67 with a sbc. Taurus fan does pull alot if you use the high speed wire, not too much though. I used a 30 amp breaker (after I blew the 20 amp 4 times) and it was fine.

if worse comes to worse il get a custom shroud made, i know a welder/fabricator pretty good.
hey 71/454 were you mounting your fan in line with the water pump? where was it hitting, on the motor of the fan?
