67 bench seat not sliding..
Just noticed my bench seat is not sitting as far back as it can go. Seems to be a notch or two to go. There's a long spring coming from the middle somewhere. But it's loose on the other end. And the handle on the driver side seems to be stuck. Any idea how I can get this thing to work properly??

Re: 67 bench seat not sliding..
Sounds like the crosswire is broken on the passeger side. Then the seat was moved back and jammed. If that's the case, you'll probably have an easier time removing the seat to fix it.There is a heavy guage wire that runs from the seat lever on the DS to the latch under the seat on the drivers side.IIRC the sping makes it return.Once you get the seat out and flipped over, you will see how the wire connects both seat rails to allow the to lock or adjust. You will need to replace that connecting wire and rehook the spring.
That is assuming the wire is broken. It may be flopping around under the seat somewhere.

As far as the handle not moving.... once the seat is out, you may need to soak the handle's lever point and the end that engages the adjustment teeth with WD40 or penetrating oil.

Re: 67 bench seat not sliding..
I'm going to get some pics tomorrow. I managed to get it to slide back. And kinda locked it in with the square looking pin that goes in the track.

I have the same problem in my 67. Would like to see what you come up with.

Re: 67 bench seat not sliding..
I'm finding it hard to believe with the minimal room in these cabs with the tank behind, and the large steering wheel, someone actually moved the seat forward...

Re: 67 bench seat not sliding..
Maybe they were looking to see if the build sheet was behind the seat,or trying to get a seat belt buckle back thru. Many reasons to move the seat.

I found it interesting that his seat was forward, and my comment was directed at the many people that have posted about the lack of room in their cabs.. And how they strive to find room to move the seats back away from the over sized steering wheel.. that takes up the limited amount of room we have. J.

Re: 67 bench seat not sliding..
I had the same problem with the seat in my '70. The crosswire that PanelDeland mentioned had come come unhooked from both sides of the seat and was laying in the floor under the seat. The spring that keeps tension on it was gone. When I got my seat recovered I flipped my seat upside down and rehooked the crosswire before putting it back in. As for that tension spring I used a zip tie and looped it around the crosswire and one of the seat springs and tightened it up until I thought there was enough tension on the crosswire. It has been on there for 3 years and still works good.
