Yet another project for me

Well, I think I'll be visiting this site often.

I've built other trucks, and this body style was my favorite for years. I then ended up with several early 60's and just fell head of heels for them.

But I've always wanted this style truck. I think it'll change as I turn this into what I want.

Anyways, here she is.
1967 C-10 Chevy
Coil sprung front/rear
250 ic
3 speed on floor
uncut dash

Up grades (exisiting)
Gas tank moved to rear
power steering

First item on to do list is engine gaskets and replace power steering hose leak.

Thinking about changing out bed for ????? (undecided).

You've got a really nice start there. Looks good like it is!

I'd keep the stepside box myself.

I like the step side, but I am a huge fan of this body style in a short bed. Oh, did I forget to mention that she is a long bed.

I really like the pick ups who convert a 90's step side to their trucks, but being a long bed, I'm limited.

Might like it more if I had a regular fender on driver side instead of the spare cut out.

Pics make this truck look a million times better that she actually is.

As for tires and wheels, yeah they are HUGE. I hate it
Front 31/10.50/15 on 8" wheels
Rear 33/12.50/15 on 10" wheels


The guy I got it from was (lets say, he tried to seriously play this truck up) a little DUMB (I'm being nice).

His sales pitch was it has many upgrades, only two up grades it has was gas tank and power steering.

Yet which both need completely redone as steering leaks and belt is not align straight and gas tank straps are loose and tank when filling up barely has any angle and gas gauge at fill only shows 1/2 to 5/8 of tank.

His pitch was after market steering column, (Stock with GT steering wheel, down grade)
Rebuilt engine (Yeah, 30,000+ miles ago and looks as if never been rebuilt)
New Carpet (Toss in carpet, not upgrade, just replacement)
Tinted windows (Its so old it turned a little purple)
New exhaust (Not at all, pipe has rust but normal and it hits step on driver side)

Lets just say I we were trading trucks as I wanted a old truck and my truck was like everyone else's. Shiny and NOT different. I like to stand out.

Well we got together and started looking at trucks and plan was a trade with a small amount of cash. (Via phone and pics) conversations. We met up and right off the bat I was not even impressed. We checked each other truck out and then got down to the nitty gritty. I told him there was no way I could make the trade for what we talked about.

I was not informed of leaks and that upgrades where stock or needed fixed to actually be considered 100% completed upgrades. We haggled a bit and I still ended up driving this baby home but with $1,000 more in pocket that agreed on over the phone.

Yeah it's a great start and I for see a color change coming as well. Inside and out. Red is not my thing. I'm thinking black and silver inside and BRIGHT yellow, or a burnt sunburst/black/cleared over both colors. (personal favorite, a special mix me and a painter made)burnt orange with orange metal flake and hint of pearl. I'll ad pic of the color combo on my old bike. The black has a root beer like effect when sun hits it just right

The bad just get worse....

I was informed the rear coils were heated up to lower the rear... see pic

Exhaust pipe is broke and barely holding together.

Wondering what's next...

I believe front is lowered but unsure how still.

That's the way the rear coils are made, although there should be a small space between the center coils. They are called "progressive" coils. I don't think they have been heated, they have just sagged. If you heated the coils just to close the center gap you would only gain 1/2 to 3/4 inch of drop.

Well, that's a relief. Maybe its me going from a lifted truck to a stock stance truck, but I thought for sure it was lowered. It does have oversized tires, which I what to get back to stock.

Trying to decode my engine..

I know it's a 230/250

Here is the stamped numbers F1113TA

I was told its a 250. I found these numbers behind the disturbor.

If you are looking for the stock look from factory but with Radial tires then it would be
15x6 steelies, 225/75. That is what I will be going with for my 67 c10 longbed.

I was unable to find any info. I'll just got with Plan B. I was a 350 with A/C and punched a little, backed up with a 5 speed trans. Engine not a problem to find for cheap but tranny will take some looking for. So, I'll start stock piling parts in shed till I have what I need to do this build.

In the mean time, I'll tinker the body together and keep her rolling as a daily driver.

Hope tomorrow I can weld up the exhaust leak I found, 2/3 of the pipe is cracked and slightly opened and is driving me nuts. JB weld will not work in this case, lol.

Post pics tomorrow if I get to fix it.

Slow starting.

I've got to get up funds for this rebuild, so while I do that. I'll make minor repairs.

Today was replacing some gauges didn't work and put in some I had bought 5 yrs ago and found a use for them. LOL

Well, Things finally coming to a head, at least my head. I'm either going to sell this truck or part it out. Prefer to sell it whole.

The more I've been poking around and telling the wife about it, the more she hates it. She drew a line and I decided that it would be better to move onto something else.

I like this body style but without A/C and the list of things I believe it to need or just want to upgrade, the more the wife is UNHAPPY!!!

So, It's out there. LOL

If it is the original engine it is a 250. Trucks did not get the 230 in 67 and later years.
It is easy to tell a 250 from 292, but far as I know there is no visual way to distinguish a 230 from a 250.

Yeah it's mine, but the budget is approved through her, and the old saying

"The wife ain't happy, you ain't happy" applies heavily on this.

If I was to invest the money into this truck that I would want to. I could have a top notch fully blown out ride. But that isn't what is budgeted for me.

I've posted it on CL, and didn't think I'd get the response I have gotten. Wondering how rare a 67 small rear window longbed step side were ever made. I was told approx. 1900 units were built, but don't have facts to prove that, just hear say.
