What does Cheyenne mean?

There is a half ton 4x4 down the street from me that I want to get. I haven't looked at it very close cuz it's fenced off but I can see that it's a Cheyenne. What kind of options can I expect to see?

Search "Cheyenne",this comes up in one form oranother on a weekly basis. It`s a trim level on 71/72 Chevys. From bottom to top:Custom,CustomDeluxe,Cheyenne, and CheyenneSuper.

Re: What does Cheyenne mean?

in the chevrolet truck encyclopedia i have it say this about cheyenne......

the best and new for 1971 , was the cheyenne. it featured deluxe trim on the seat, carpet, headliner, and door panels. bucket seats and a console were available.
it says in 1972 they had a cheyenne super series. you could get every option chevrolet offered, like the desirable 350 v8,trubo hydra-matic automatic, air conditioning ,power steering and brakes.

cheyenne interior was next to top of line and the cheyenne super interior was the top of the line.

hope this helps a little

Re: What does Cheyenne mean?

the buckets and console, acc guages, and chrome trim on the tailgate handle (fleetside only) and upper trim for the two ton paint. (I think the 2 tone and upper were standard on the super, not positive though) were added for the super.
No engine or tranny was included in either option, meaning, a 250 and 3 speed were standard still, yet seldom purchased that way.
Off the top of my head, the cheyenne package included bright window trim front and back, bright wing vent trim, bright trim on the pedals, and knobs on the dash, up graded seat covers, carpet, headline, cargo light, dome light switches in the door jambs, lower wood grain trim on the sides and tail gate, bright trim around tail lights, badges, added insulation.... i think there is more, but nothing off the top of my head.
A/C, power brakes, power steering, engines, trannys, gearing... all optional.

Re: What does Cheyenne mean?

Yes,upper trim and deluxe 2-tone on the Super.Solid paint could be specified and you still got the upper trim. That book there is a pretty vague reference.
*deluxe trim on seat:what`s considered deluxe? In a CustomDeluxe you got a technically better seat...same upgraded scrolled vinyl plus fancy cloth inserts in place of pleated vinyl.
*350,Turbo-Hydramatic trannies,a/c,p/s,& p/brakes were available on any model from the bottom to the top.

Re: What does Cheyenne mean?

The CST was the top of the line package... before it was renamed the Cheyenne. Same RPO code as Cheyenne. They continued to call the blazers CST, instead of opting for the new name.
