They must have used two different styles in 71-72. Those look just like my 69-70s. I thought that the tips curled over at about a 90 degrees?? Maybe not 90 but close.. Hmmmmm, Where's Jerry when you need him... LOL I guess I will chrome the ones I have, if they are correct for 71-72. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Talking

Wes,LOL.
i'm unsure of the reasoning behind the small curl at the tip and the larger curl. my "therory" sp. has been that one style was factory installed and the other style was a dealer add on. i have nothing to document my idea though. i've had many more sets of the smaller curl style over the years. i'm watching the ones on ebay just to see how high they go

I took them to 250. These look like left and right. Mine both point left. Here is an idea, does anyone have apair that both point to the right we might trade and have two correct hooks. Just a thought. Heck the ones on e-bay look roght, but with my luck I will have 4 hooks all pointing the same direction!!

I went to a swap meet today and asked around for tow hooks. I got two basic repliies:
1. "Why would you want those nasty old things, when you can get nice new chrome ones for about $20 a pair".

2. "Ya, ha ha, you and everyone else is looking for them. You'll never find any...and I want some too".

You know, I think they are becoming like a "badge of honor" to the truck guys. If you are going to talk trash, you just gotta have tow hooks.

That is funny! We need to start introducing ourselves. I asked one guy today, that had truck parts in his booth, and he said they were hard to find, etc...THAT WAS YOU & THAT WAS ME. Sorry we didn't talk longer.

I appreciate it when you Oregon Guys leave a few "crumbs" for us out-of-town interlopers that tread into your turf looking for truck parts. Jose, John & crew, DC Dave and all of the others are like, "Truck parts magnets". All I even get down there are the stories of all the good parts that you guys already got! I just go ahead and pay you guys extra for the stuff I need. I consider it a fair commission for you finding the stuff for me...Now, where are those darn Oregon tow hooks?

I would like to be next in line if BBB does not buy them. I will be at Portland and could save the shipping.

Congrats BBB

I know you surely bought these, because we don't have bidding contests or first come, etc, on this board. You posted first and I was the next buyer behind you, posted on this thread.
Silas, a quick look at the rules will make things a little smoother next time you decide to sell parts on here. We don't use bids. Post the price and take the buyers in turn, as they reply on the board. We try to keep all sales posted, so everyone can be quaranteed of an equal apportunity. It just keeps things more "civil".

Tow Hooks?

Silas,

What happened? I was the first to PM you last night and never heard anything. I checked the board and my e-mail this morning(7:00 am) and no responce. I checked the board and e-mail at lunch (12:00 am) still no responce. Now I check again at 4:45 and you have posted I better get a hold of you first come first serve. Then your next post is they are sold? Look at the times on your posts. They are all just a couple of minutes apart. What the %$@# is that? I know they are yours and you can do with them what you want but that is not a very positive way to do business on this board.
I see you are a newbie so I will let you in on a little secret around here.... You reputation is EVERYTHING on this board!

PICKMUP,

Unfortunately I didn't get them. I am at a loss at what happened?
Oh well, I geuss I will keep hunting.

&

BBB

I guess I am suspicious here. OldSkool71 posts about tow hooks. Huggerk5 takes them to $250.00. Frank makes a comment about "Oregon guys" and a pair appear at 1/2 the price of the Ebay hooks.
They are gone as soon as they appear but not to either of the people offering to buy them.
Lock Ness Monster, UFO's, Tow hooks. Did they really exist or are they a myth?

i was sure BBB or Frank was the new owner of the 125.00 pair so i didn't put my name in the hat either. i wonder who sneaked in and bought them from under those two guys.
