Re: Found SW Top on Ebay

It looks like it is in good shape, but without a hatch, the value is greatly reduced. I'd say the current $200 is about the right price (if you live near it.)

If I was looking to buy a single wall top, I'd jump on those strips. You don't see those around much anymore.

Re: Found SW Top on Ebay

Well, it is in the same state as me, granted its 5.5 hours away. I would probably give the starting bid of $200 for it, but that would be about it. I would love to have a single wall, but the more I think about it, the more I realize I will rairly put a top on anyway.

Re: Found SW Top on Ebay

So whats the deal. single wall vs double wall?? I have a single wall top on my Blazer, and ????? I think I have read where the double's were on the CST's, and the singles were on the rest? How much is the weight difference in the two? which one is better

Single wall tend to be more desirable because of the lighter weight and the fact that they can be installed/removed without removing the inner "bed" panels. With a double wall you have to remove the panel in order to get to the bolts that go up into the top.

As far as what came on what, it was dependant on the year model. IIRC double walls were the only option when Blazers were introduced in 69. Sometime around the end of the 71 model (some stories I hear say it started late 71, some say 72) the single wall came out. My 72 has holes punched in the bed rails for both the single and double wall from the factory. I'm not sure of the exact weight difference. Maybe someone else will chime in.

Also, single wall have the dome light, double do not.

I think all 72's were set-up for either, and since they were the last
year they just got whatever was laying around in surplus at plants.

Well, I kinda thought that as well. The other day however, I was looking at 72Levi's 72 and I think it only had one set of holes, he has a single wall by the way. He definitly has LESS holes than my 72 does. Maybe 72Levi will jump in. It's possible that I made a mistake, believe it or not I have made a couple from time to time.

I'll also add that double walls have a tendency to split right by the windshield header and sag in the middle.

600 is just nuts but maybe there is someone out there that wants it bad enough. I'd pay 200 as is right now for it but no more, i've got a decent hatch i'd throw on it.

Let's make a little road trip and go in halfs on it. I will use it in the winter and you can have it in the summer.

Now I have two different tops....the one that I believe to be a single walled top is heavier then the double wall top....is that correct or do I have them mixed up?

Re: Found SW Top on Ebay

The single wall should have dome lights in it and yes, it should be lighter.

I always heard that a single wall was lighter, but I can move my double wall around with just me and a helper, while it is a struggle for me and two friends to move the single wall around???
