What is the very best inline fuel filter???

The fuel filter is from napa but not sure who the manufacturer is, it is see through. The fuel filter has been on for almost a year. I looked around autozone, and advance autoparts, they had one called spector, specter something like that, then they had another one by mr. gasket. Is there one that has the replaceable filters. I want the very best, not some cheapo kind either.

Thumbs down Re: What is the very best inline fuel filter???

those filters are an accident waiting to happen, they cause engine fires. if you decide to use one be sure to keep a very close eye on the rubber hoses and replace them often.

Re: What is the very best inline fuel filter???

You went from a Qjet to another? What did you do with the Qjet? I would like one. The filter can be any where! Put it between tank and pump. Put it between the pump and the carb. Unless it is stopped up it wiil let gas through. Get rid of that filter on top of your engine! FIRE O NO! Unless it is in the Qjet or another tightly sealed line. NO PLASTIC SEE THRU FUEL FILTERS ALLOWED, PLEASE.

The hose is in very good shape, and the carb is a holly 4 barrel, not sure about the cfms on this carb. How do I know how many cfms are on the carb???

Re: What is the very best inline fuel filter???

Buy a steel inline filter and you wont have to worry about it breaking and causing a fire ,also keep an eye on your rubber hose in case of cracks.

Take the numbers off the chocke horn on the top of the carb to the parts store and they can tell you what size it is . Looks like a 600 holley from your pic. If you give me the numbers off it I can tell you what size it is also!! Please don't run a plastic or glass fuel filter I hate to see truck fires !!!!

They are actually in the carb, but if you use a flashlight and a mirror you can count them without taking apart the carb.

Seriously, just get the numbers off the carb and cross reference to Holley's site. They have a lot of good tech info there.
Also, a good steel inline filter worked for me when I had rubber fuel line, until I switched to a AN braided line. Now I have an aluminum inline filter from Summit.

Been using that kind of filter for years, NEVER EVER had any problems out of any of them!! Wix makes the filter in your pic, they also have a metal version I have used it for years also NAPA #3033. The clear one you have is #3003.

Get the steel can type from Napa. You can wrench down pretty hard on the clamps without collapsing the inlets/outlets without leaks.

like the Racor 1000 series. http://www.starmarinedepot.com/Racor...el+Filter.html
its better if you can fit a marine multi filter system so if one clogs, you can switch to the other one while you put a new element in the first filter without shutting down.

I think this is the carb numbers: 34R-10880B, it was the only numbers and letters I can find, it was on the passenger side.

forget the plastic or glass see through filters..PERIOD ..i have seen those leak ,crack and the glass one s break many times...this is from personal experience also....buy a metal fuel filter ...call it done ..but you could run any see through filter you want, there is lots of wireing diagrams on here for you. ................for the fire those filters will cause.........

Re: What is the very best inline fuel filter???

I run a plastic see through inline NAPA/Wix filter hadnt had a problem. Only time I had a truck fire was due to a leaking Holley carb (was leaking around the front fuel bowl even after rebuilding the carb) as soon as it warms up Im going to go to inline metal filter before the pump and a new rubber 5/16 line made for fuel injection (If it can handle the 45 lbs and up pressure of a fuel injection unit, itll dang sure handle the 5-8 lbs of pressure for the carb). Just my 2 cents.

Re: What is the very best inline fuel filter???

The best filter is one between the tank and the fuel pump where it is not under pressure from the pump. If it leaks, it is not near the engine. But, some will insist on ease of install and gamble on it never leaking above their exhaust manifold---hummmm.

The very best inline fuel filter: Come on, a fuel filters a fuel filter. Just go buy one from a parts store and dont worry about it. I have a clear plastic one on my truck...works fine for me.

I run a glass one on my truck and a steel one on my Jeep. More problems with the steel one than any glass I've ever had.

Re: What is the very best inline fuel filter???

Most new cars don't even have a filter. Just the screen in the tank. If you have plastic tank and lines I would just run without one. I thought about just putting the fuel tank pick up at the top rather than the bottom where the crud and water is in my old truck. Yeah, that's what I'm gonna do.

Re: What is the very best inline fuel filter???

The fact that someone hasn't experienced leakage (or a fire) does not make a filter/location safe. I'd prefer not to have a filter atop my engine...

Besides the bronze Q-jet filter, I use an inline steel filter under the truck, between the transfer valve and the fuel pump. Still need to keep an eye on the short fuel hoses connecting everything, though -- hose failure could allow leakage onto the exhaust.
