New 67 SWB and a question already

Hey Guys,
This weekend I went and picked up my recently new 1967 Short box....and what a trip from hell! The truck was about a 3 hour drive each way and on the way home the trailer axel dropped out of the trailer (Broken ubolt) After 3 hours on the road I was able to nurse the trailer to a farmers driveway. The next day I went back and repaired the trailer on the road side...all said and done it took me 16 hours to do a 6 hour trip...and managed to keep the truck in one piece.

Now the question, I have no idea what engine is in the truck now and from what I can tell is it is an older Oldsmobile engine from the blue paint. I am unable to find a block number...Maybe one of you guys could help me out?

looks like a sbc

From the looks of it just looks like a sbc from the early 80s, they painted them blue for a little.

There should be a block number stamped on the back of the engine near the bell housing behind the driver side valve cover. The lip with the stamp will more than likely be covered in dirt and grime. You will need to crap it away.

I tried for about 30 minutes with a mirror and light and cannot find anything back there. I know on most Chevys when you look down the rear of the engine there is a protruding section where the block number is....this one goes straight down and it's hard to see any visible numbers. I well try to clean it up this week and try again. Thanks for the input everyone!

Yup sbc but i dont recognise those exh. Manifolds. The 305 in my blazer was blue originally.

I would have drove that home ! Nice and looks like a small block to me I've never seen the pvc go into the intake at that spot ? maybe the blue paint and a few other things are canuc special ?

I was originally going to but te ministry wouldn't allow me to get a temporary drivers permit for it because it wasn't certified at the time of purchase....one of those technicalitys I guess

Very late 70's or very early 80's small block. Probably a 2 barrel carb model. I would hazard to guess 265, 267 or 305. Malibu, Monte or maybe Monza passenger car.

AHHH ! Monza ,I just built an interior for a local guy in one of those V-8 Powered, haven't seen one in along time ...

I am still looking at the engine stands and the way they bolt up. They just look,,,, different.

SBC's were blue from 76-84

That is a correct Chevy small block from the late 70 to early 80's. Manifolds are correct, the pcv hose to intake manifold is correct and the engine mount stands look like 73 up truck stands to me.
