New user with questions

Recently bought a 1978 K10 from a guy who didn't know much about it. It has a 1992? 350 engine with a Rochester instead of the TBI, It idles kind of rough but smoothes out above 2000 rpm. Im running 33s and can spin the tires in the dry with no problem. Question is, and anyones guess is appreciated, do you think its been regeared? what about a cam (as far as the idle)? the transfer case is a NP 241c so Im assuming the trans is a 700? Any guesses?

Re: New user with questions

Can't help much on the cam. For the transmission crawl under it and look at the pan.

For the rear end, jack it up. The number of driveshaft revolutions to spin the tire will give you a rough idea of your rearend gear.
(ie a little over 4 turns would be a 4.10)

This guide should help.

Re: New user with questions

My 80 C10 has a pretty decent cam in it and there is a noticeable difference in the way runs once it gets past 1500 rpm, so I guess the cam could be what is making run like that.

It's always good to Check your timing also. If the timing is off it can give you a rough idle.
