1964-1966 center a/c vent
these things are very expensive and can be difficult to find in uncracked condition. so a friend of mine has been helping me make a new one. this new part is pretty amazing has the same flexibility as the original and you can boil it in water and does not even distort or warp it. i have the back pieces done also now working on the vent balls. this is the only pic so far but tell me what you think.

Are you going to sell the parts individually or as a package only?

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
First I need to get a part that's ready to sell. Then I need to contribute to the forum so that I can sell them legally here. Bu if there is just one piece that somebody needs I don't think it'll be a problem just selling one piece.

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
This is pretty sweet, mine's cracked. I have the balls and center vents, but would like to eventually replace that center piece.
AFAIK, the mid 60's pontiac vent balls will work but are slightly different appearing, but i don't think anyone has come up with the center diffuser vent yet or one that will work in its place.

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
first the part looks like a tan color.
then i use this plastic primer. its almost white with just a touch of gray. note... i put the can of primer in the sun for a while so it does not fish eye.

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
I think you would sell a ton of unpainted ones, since so many of us have changed interior colors. Do the parts in the back attach the same way (they part with like felt that screws in and pinches the balls and keeps them tight)?

As long as it could be made to work with my existing parts, count me in! Minor differences don't matter

Any copyrights or trademark issues with the bowtie on it?

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
I really don't know but I would happily remove the bow tie if there are any problems. I am definitely not interested in getting in any trouble.

I kind of like having the corner broken off...adds some style and patina points.

Anyone know what the knob in the bottom center is for? I have the same one but no wires were hooked up to it when I got the truck. |

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
working on the smaller vent ball conversion now. the small one is 2 1/4 in tall. it will fit fine on the sides of our dash for the 64-66.
cut out and sanded smooth. inserted the center piece from one of my casted parts. compair the original to the new smaller side vent. next i will cast the new part and send it out for chroming and it will look like a factory 64-66 truck vent but for the side of the dash.

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
i hope it all works out and don't want to see any troubles either. there is a large demand for them and it'd be nice to fill some of the voids where parts can be purchase that aren't currently reproduced or available in original form.
looking forward to seeing these parts in trucks and hope it all works, you've done a great job on the prototype!!
