76 Chevy C-10
So new to the group here glad i found this group ive been lost and needing help.
So here is my problem and i apologize ill add pictures later. I have a 76 c-10 4x4 with a 350, truck has been in my family since it rolled of the lot in 1976. My front end leaf springs are bowed over its worse on the driver side then passenger side. I recently went to the local salvage yard and found some that were still good had plenty of arc. I replaced all the bushings and hardware and slapped em on. They promptly bowed back to the same as the old ones i took off. Long story short whats my next step? The current stock ones have just 2 leafs. Do i change out my shocks? Is there anther area i need to look at? Thanks for the help. |

Re: 76 Chevy C-10
c-10 = 2wd
k-10 = 4x4 stock 4wd front leafs were basically flat to begin with and over the years got the negative arch in them . whats your end goal with this truck ? this will help dictate what info we give you . sbc or bbc ? winch bumper or plow ? big tires or stock ? d.d use or offroad need flex room for tires ?

Re: 76 Chevy C-10
That's pretty much the way the stock springs are. They still work fine that way for regular driving and work. If the truck isn't leaning to one side I would say they are fine. My 76 is still rolling on the stock springs at 190k miles. If I had lots of time and money I would buy 2" lift springs for a little more wheel travel. I did that with my K20 but haven't bothered on my little K10.

Re: 76 Chevy C-10
Cadillac is right- they are called "Negative Arch".
I take mine to the spring shop & have them worked over. They add a leaf & positive arch them. After they settle it adds a little over 2" to the truck. |
