It's Sunday, What ya git Done?

We haven't done one in a couple weeks, so here goes. What ya get done this weekend? For me, little to nothing. I had some computer jobs yesterday that kept me away from the truck. Today was Mama's and the yard's time . Best I did for the old 70 was buy a dipstick (no not another me) and tube for the crate engine going into it.

So how about you folks?

Re: It's Sunday, What ya git Done?

Tried to start the Monster today but the Battery we had was not strong enough. Hopefully I will find one that will turn this motor for me.

only thing i did truck wise was mount the bracket on the carb to receive the tv cable, then realised it'll have to be taken off and modified.

Re: It's Sunday, What ya git Done?

Big fun... Replaced the valve cover gaskets on the GMC and "degreased" the engine where the oil from the previous gasket failed (nasty). Also JB welded the piston shift knob onto the shifter. the set screw was stripped!

Re: It's Sunday, What ya git Done?

I got my truck back on Friday from Dreamers, the guys that welded up my bent frame. I etched the bumper and prepared it for paint, and I washed the grill to prepare for installation. I also started cleaning up the turn signals so they'll be ready. I plan to paint the bumper in white DPLF this week sometime, and paint the remaining mounts with black DPLF. I have all new stainless hardware from Totally Stainless, so everything's set. I also completed the Pertronix Ignitor install and worked on some timing tuning. Finally, I installed the new left side rear-view mirror. I'm hoping to be back to a complete truck this coming weekend...just in time for the swap meet in Monroe, WA!

OT, but I finally got some wrench time in on my '69 Corvette. I removed the left side trailing arm, the right side 1/2 shaft, and got a little movement on the last stubborn lower left side a-arm bolt. I got the right side exhaust manifold off, and sawzall'd out the entire exhaust. Next weekend I'll finish pulling the complete front suspension strip the engine to prep for a pull and drop the driveshaft, pumpkin and right side trailing arm.

Talking Re: It's Sunday, What ya git Done?

Saturday I finished the engine swap in my brothers burb, got the cam broke in and hopefully the rings seated, set the valve lash, and tuned it all in. Saturday night I put a valve cover gasket and serp belt on my friends saturn. Today I Drug old blue out into the drive way, finished plumbing the cooling system and trans cooler stuff. Wired the charging system, and finally fired the 454 for the first time, I must say it sounds nice! My nieghbors have probably had enough open header fun for a while.

Re: It's Sunday, What ya git Done?

I was away at my cabin in Craig CO, installing propane refridge, additional direct vent space heater, a tank-less water heater, and a 200 gallon water tank up in the loft. Lotta work.....then got home around 1pm today and got the driver side electric leather bucket seat bolted into it's place! I'm tired and done now!
700R4 goes in this week!!!

Re: It's Sunday, What ya git Done?

Was told to move my parts truck out of my relatives yard or they are going to get it hauled away. Have it advertised locally, would like someone to buy it who can use the parts. I have a week and then I will be forced to drive it to the scrap metal recyclers Also found out my lime 71 project has lots of rust above the roof so basically a new body is needed. Unsure if it is worth doing, might just recycle this one too and start over.

Re: It's Sunday, What ya git Done?

Over the past 2-3 months I have been in pain with a shoulder impingment and tennis elbow. Wednesday I had shoulder surgery for the shoulder impingement (bone spur), expected about 6-8 weeks of recovery time before I am able to fully use my left arm. But none the less I was able to get some things done. Thursday I had dropped off the rear rollpan off at the body shop to get some paint put on it, while at that same time I had a plumber here replacing my water tank and replacing my well pump, it died after 16yrs. I got my wiring all done up for the electric fuel pump and the fuel sending unit for my rear mounted fuel tank. I got the wiring all reconnected for the frontend, when I had disconnected the front end I just cut the wires off about 8" from the fuse block and when putting it back to gether I added in some plugs so that in the future if I need to remove the nose again I can just unplug my electrical. Hooked up the rear fuel line to the new fuel tank. Welded in the Fuel filler hole in the cab.

Things left to do,
Install Hidden Antenna & reinstall Cowl Vent
Reattach my Seat belts & put the rear of the bench seat back on
Install new Hood Hinges, Hood & finish up alinging hood & frontend
Install Battery Cutoff Switch & finish off any wiring Hookups for Inovatives LM1 Wide Band Digital Air/Fuel Ratio Meter & Their LM3 box for more Data gathering.
Setup and reinstall the BG 750 Mighty Demon Carb that I had sent back to BG because of constant issues I was having with it last fall.
Front Bumper or RollPan

Outside Work
Alingment
Scratch & any paint repair work needed

I folded 6 loads worth of laundry (procrastinated) and cleaned the house.

The poor truck has been neglected for a couple months now.

Re: It's Sunday, What ya git Done?

Finished off going through the front brakes, just a cleanup and some copper grease on the pivot points, adjusters etc to make sure they work OK when it gets driven round to it's temporary new home this week as she's not been driven for over a year. Also finished a full front end lube job and gave her a quick wash over. This week she goes into her rented accomodation whilst I get started on the rust repairs and new interior.
