Re: 72 gauge cluster light ?'s

If the bulbs you have in there now are size 194, you could try upgrading them to 168's. They're the same size but 50% brighter, and they're only like $1.70 for a pack of 2 at Walmart.

I upgraded to 168s and it made a world of difference.

Re: 72 gauge cluster light ?'s

I know this maybe overly simple but sometimes that is where the problems lie. Look to see if the hazard button has been pushed in. If it has and the hazard flasher is missing or bad that would do it

Nope. You can reach all of the bulb holders by reaching up behind the cluster.

All of the bulbs live in black twist-lock bulb holders, so just look up from underneath and you'll see them. Give them a little twist to the left and they'll come out.

Re: 72 gauge cluster light ?'s

I have found personally, that taking the cluster apart and painting the green parts white, and then installing the 168 bulbs, is more than enough. I did that, and then put the white face guage overlays in my burb, and they are simply too bright now.

Not trying to jack the thread, but how do you paint this part? Aren't the letters/numbers green and the rest clear?

You can remove them from the back. They twist 1/4 turn to remove. If I remember right it is counter clockwise to remove and clockwise to install. They should turn pretty easy. Don't force them. Then the bulbs just pull out of the sockets...

Re: 72 gauge cluster light ?'s

The bulb holders are about 3/4" round, black, and have a raised rectangle in the center to grab onto. There are no wires going to them (make connection through the circuit board).

I had one bulb that was burnt out but after I replaced it I noticed that the other 5 bulbs were not working. Now I know why......
