Removing engine from 66 C10
Hi Guys,
New member that is in the process of pulling my 283 out of my 66 C10. I live in the Portland OR area and work for Hi-tech company. I was wondering if it's possible to pull the motor and manual tranny out together? I was trying to pull them out together and had problems with the tranny hitting the tranny mount, and then when I jacked up the tranny to clear the mount the top of the tranny was sticking up to far inside the cab to pull it out. I have the engine puller chained to the front driveside intake manifold and then the rear passenger side intake manifold bolts. do I just need to adjust were I have my puller or do I need to seperate the two parts? I will be installing an automatic so I will have to grind out the tranny mount anyways I was just hoping to do this with everything out, would it just be easy to grind out the tranny mount and then pull everything out? Thanks so much in advance for your help. Thom |

The stock transmissions/engine combos are very hard to get out together without cutting out the crossmember. It is almost easier with those to break and trans apart, it's hard to get them all the way out safely with the trans attached without an overhead puller. Just installed v8 with t-10 trans with crossmember moved back and it was still difficult.

Thanks Rodnok1, I have to remove the tranny mount anyways so I think I will just remove this before pulling everything out.
