Before I go any further on my chasis reassembly,Do you guys think I'm gonna regret using spray can primer which was rustoleum,and rustoleum gloss black.I sprayed the black with a gun though.I just wanted some opinions before I got too far along,which may be too late allready since I've got the whole frame and all the front end pieces done this way!!

that's what i used. my frame has been exposed to the sun all last summer, spent the winter outside (under a tarp) and is back outside. paint looks fine, for spray paint.

You want show car or protection?

For a daily/ocassional driver I think it is just fine.

I cleaned my frame, did the rust converter thing, then sparyed and hand painted with rustolium. It looks real good to me and others that have seen it think it looks good. The frame/truck has been out in the weather 6 months now and it still looks great.

It's not for show,probably daily depending on how much I like it when it's through!!

I went the spray bomb route with a S-10 blazer that I drove and showed. It was fine but did chip easy. but being it was out of a can it was easy to touch up.. If you have access to a spray gun, do it that way.. A lot nicer finish and better protection in the long run....

brush on rustoleum thats easy and its cheap and it holds up better

Spray cans work fine if the surface was prepped right. My buddies used it on the suspension, chassis, & roll cage of the latest car they built so when the owner chipped or scratched something, he could easily touch it up regardless of where he was (as long as a wal-mart or auto parts store was close by).

Do what I did, as I was having my rear-end being rebuilt. Took all the grease and junk off the frame, primed it, then sprayed the professional undercoating(Autozone) 5.99/can maybe 5-6cans, and then sparyed with black gloss. People who see it ask what I did and am very surprised. It looks better then some SHOW trucks out there....I'll post a pic or two when I can.

It's already painted rustoleum gloss black,I used my paint gun to apply it,should I put anything else on it to maybe make it a little tougher?It's got about 3 coats on it now.If I go back with the under coating over the gloss black that's allready there will it stick?I wish I hadda thought of that before!!

I used Rustolem Satin black on my frame and suspension parts. It looks good and is easy to touch up. If you building a driver, it's gonna get dirty anyway, so why spend big bucks on fancy paint? My only complaint is that it does scratch pretty easily, but once the truck is done, there should be no reason for it to get scratched anyway.
