Cheyenne Super Glovebox
I thought these had holes for the emblem. This truck is a mix matched put together truck but it says Cheyenne on spid. Shows to have come from 72 truck.

Re: Cheyenne Super Glovebox
I’ll try to check it out better. Seems like I read on the board at some point in time about another one like this that never had an emblem.

Re: Cheyenne Super Glovebox
This would be the 3rd one I have seen without holes and yours looks original to me.

Re: Cheyenne Super Glovebox
So according to the spid it's a Cheyenne. Not a super. Is that right.

Yep, someone added the woodgrain but left out the emblem.

Re: Cheyenne Super Glovebox
Yep it’s a mix matched truck but I was thinking that every Cheyenne super that I had seen had holes in it where the emblem went. Guess a first time for everything.

Re: Cheyenne Super Glovebox
That's a Cheyenne by the spid. Is the instrument bezel and door panel inserts woodgrain as well

Re: Cheyenne Super Glovebox
No woodgrain on the instrument cluster. It does have woodgrain on the door panels but so do Cheyenne also

Re: Cheyenne Super Glovebox
OK. I corrected my original post. The question I was asking is why doesn’t this glove box have the holes for a Cheyenne Super emblem?

Re: Cheyenne Super Glovebox
Every glovebox with factory woodgrain I've owned had the holes. The only one that didn't had the aftermarket aluminum and decal that I had on my red '69. Like the the one below. The one you have looks factory though.

Re: Cheyenne Super Glovebox
The one I bought had the woodgrain pre-attached. It looked horrible and did match not the factory or aftermarket cluster woodgrain, so I scuffed and painted the decal with textured paint to match a black cluster bezel. I added a '67-68 glovebox emblem just because I like those better.

Re: Cheyenne Super Glovebox
Doesn't matter in this case if it is a super or not. The woodgrain looks correct to me and this would be the 3rd one I have seen without any holes for the emblem.
Just a thought... could it be possible a plain old Cheyenne could have gotten this from the factory?

Re: Cheyenne Super Glovebox
What we are looking at here is the "factory Cheyenne Super glovebox door woodgrain applique with no holes for the Cheyenne Super emblem". It is an unusual and rare occurrence. Maybe the third I've seen as well. GM did some sort of photo etch for the woodgrain. It's not a sticker and that is a factory applique.

Re: Cheyenne Super Glovebox
Not saying this is or isn't the case, but I believe that someone (dealer or past owner) has added the woodgrain to this Cheyenne's glovebox. When you got the woodgrain as a part over the counter, it did not have the holes. Here are my two NOS examples. These could have been accidentally added on the assembly line as well.

Re: Cheyenne Super Glovebox
Yeah, that applique would have been added to that door. That sounds likely it could have been done early on from the parts dept, since it never had holes. I didn't realize the GM part was not punched. I was able to peel one off a Cheyenne Super I parted out years ago. Used it on another truck, too
