is it just me or is this not right?
Anyone else think it's weird that instead of a wheel base length this SPID is showing the paint code is this fishy or something I am not use to? |

That much rust it's pretty much a goner. Too many people think they still have a gold mine because of the year of the rig.
I wouldn't give more than $500 bucks. And use it for parts. Gary

Re: is it just me or is this not right?
I'd have a hard time giving $200 for that, let alone 2K

I grew up in Northern Minnesota, where we would consider that amount of rust "not bad." The frame repair is scary, though.

Re: is it just me or is this not right?
Looks like that frame patch is After the Rear Axle? Is that the only patch? Most of the stress on the frame is right after the cab. My '67 has a lot of cab rust, much worse than these pics. The rear spring perch is failing on mine, but I am going to rebuild and re-strengthen the chassis, possible short bed conversion. Doing it right w a Z cut and plate reinforcement or boxing.
That rear patch is done with a straight cut and that is not the best way, but it is in the rear. That cab looks a lot less rust than what I have, but do you have more pics that show better angles of the damage? How much work do you want to do? I paid about $1800 for mine, had more rust than what you're posting but it came w original 283 w 9k miles. |

Re: is it just me or is this not right?
Hey I'm no expert, and I'm in southeastern Kentucky, but I gave $50 for my truck and other than some rusted out rockers/floor pans, minor other rust, everything else was numbers matching, all original, and the frame was perfect! You can check my thread if you want to check it out. My truck was a LWB and I've shortened the frame already on it. If you or your friends are competent welders, it's an easy job. Just another option to think about! Good luck, but I for SURE would pass on that truck.

Re: is it just me or is this not right?
I am surprised at how many people are scared of frame repairs given how many people are willing to butcher the frame to turn a truck into a SWB.

Re: is it just me or is this not right?
Frame repair , Cab repair , Engine repair ................ if it all done correctly the doors will shut ,the engine will start and the truck will drive down the road just fine for many miles and many years

Re: is it just me or is this not right?
I definitely ain't afraid of any frame repairs but I don't think I butchered mine either haha if you're a qualified welder, frame work is no big deal as far as I'm concerned!
