Breaker Bar
When rotating the engine by hand using a breaker bar where do you hook it to? This is being used to get back to TDC.

The large bolt on the front of the crank pulley. You'll need a 3 inch extension, or so.

Good idea to remove the spark plugs.
If you don't remove the plugs, there is a posability of stripping the threads off the crankshaft where the bolt goes into it. I'm thinking the 67's didn't even have a bolt...weren't they just pressed on? |

Yep its a crate and bad news I cant get that breker bar in there. I dont have a 3 inch ext.
 Back to bumping.

If the fly wheel inspection cover is missing, you can grab it and turn it over.
Gloves is highly recomended. |

Screw two bolts into the front of the harmonic balancer and you can turn it with a pry bar (and you don't have to worry about stripping any threads)

Stripping the threads???? You should be more worried about snapping the bolt off in the crank. Been there done that. Only fix is to replace the crank.

ive done it the way randy said and as long as ya go easy and dont try to roughouse stuff you wont bust a bolt or anything works just fine

Yeah, if it isn't a real high compression motor then I see nothing wrong with doing it the way Randy said. If it is remove the plugs if you break your crank then, well either it was already broken, about to break, or your motor was locked up!!!!
