What would it take to install one in a 70 C-10?? Has anyone already done this??

kwmech posted a while back that it would be cheaper in the long run to buy a Gear Vendors auxiliary transmission and have it installed, than to put in a 4l80e and the computer etc. if thats true, it would be sweet...you can split gears! but the 4l80e is basically a th400 with OD, so both would be good and durable options.

Member Denny had one put in his truck. He drove down from Missouri, I think, and had one put in at Pheonix Transmissions here in the town where I live.

I understand jet performance makes some pretty hot conversions for non-computerized vehicles. You can get just the tranny, or the computer/tranny as a kit. Check out:

Stand alone computer will run $1000+. There is one for sale in MN for $650 right now. Or I have been told you need to find a tranny from a diesel. They have a stand alone computer controlling them already. Reprogram the shift points and drive. I have a 96 G30 GMC van just for that purpose. It was very inexpensive so I couldn't pass it up.
