Sweet. That'd be a pretty radical ride. Let us know how it goes should you decide to jump at it.

Welcome to the board. That is the way a crew should look. Check out the welds and frame extension though.

since you ae new here, you gotta know, that truck is a custom. Real crew cabs didlt look nearly that good. The cab on that truck is a cut down suburban.

Re: Craigslist Find: 1968 crew cab

WELCOME!!!!!

I love that truck!!!

It`s all custom,as mentioned, and quality of work is the difference between "grab it quick" and "run and don`t look back".The frame will be grafted or stretched and the cab consists of a Suburban body cut behind the 3rd door, truck cab back, and top made of a couple truck cabs.
It`s unique, making a price pretty variable and quality of work is a major factor.I`d want to know the mechanical condition of the drivetrain and completeness of the vehicle since it`s a project.Just realize it`s only the beginning. You found one heck of a first truck.

Find out the price, condition, and completeness.Get back with us and we`ll give an evaluation.

Re: Craigslist Find: 1968 crew cab

That a cool looking crew cab. That said it's a lot of project for a beginer.I have no idea how skilled you are and like the others said it may have been well done or it may be just a cobbled together mess.Either can be a deal but there's gonna be some $$$$ spent to get it running and road legal.

Yeah, I would love to have it for I am wanting to build a K30 72' Cheyenne Super CC swb fleetside one of these days as a hauling machine.

If that was any where near my house it would be in my driveway. Of course I would be sleeping in it too.

Cool find. I echo all the above sentiments. I bought one 3 year ago and the only thing I ended up using from the original truck was the cab and the rear doors.....

I can agree with you, I have been down this road many times and it can be very hard to get a project done but when it is custom work to be done that is when the money starts to flow unless you can do most of the work. That beign said it looks like a good beginning but if I brought that home I too would be sleeping in it.

I just checked his post and he is only asking $1500. He might have lowered the price since talking to you on the phone. I would say grab it if you have the space, tools, knowledge, and time. Oh yeah.....the money too.

Re: Craigslist Find: 1968 crew cab

I vowed not to bring home any more projects...

1970 LWB almost done (going to my Dad)
1972 CST Blazer - waiting in the wings in my yard
1967 SWB GMC - waiting in the hills of Colorado still (should be here in little over 2 weeks) -

If I was looking - this would be gone by now - somebody had to of checked it out by now...

Re: Craigslist Find: 1968 crew cab

I am new to this site. Looked several times but just registered last week. A friend of mine & myself just picked this truck up early last week. The guy selling it said that it came from Kentucky in 03'. Whoever started this project had the right ideas in mind. The roof has all been redone so it does NOT have the hightop roof like the suburbans and the frame has been stretched 5" to accomodate the longer wheelbase of a truck. Whoever stretched the frame did a very professional job. This truck will be on the road by this winter. I'll post some pictures of the build as it goes.

By the way, this is a three door. Would like to convert it to a full crew. Thinking that since the rear doors are not as wide as the fronts, I need to locate a suburban right side rear door so I can change the latches & hinges around to make work. If anyone knows about a door of this type in "decent" shape, I would definately be interested.

welcome VonChase, feel free to post a wtb ad in the classifieds if you are looking for a Suburban passenger rear door, you will get more looks. Also, very nice project, and good luck with the crew. Trevor

We bought a truck very similiar to this one just a little before 2003 but sold it thereafter to a guy I think from Hopkinsville, KY maybe?? This looks like the one we had but I just cant remember for 100% sure. If it is the one we had, I saw the guy who built it this past weekend.

I'm cheap, so It seem a little high, but only a little. And if the work that was done is pretty good, it might just be a steal.

Go for it!
