VIN Decoder Website..Try it
I hope this link works. It allows you to decode your VIN number for Chevy Trucks. I have a GMC and it did'nt give me all the info I was looking for. I was trying to figure out the info on my pro-tec-to plate. It was fun anyway.

lol i tried that too, even though i also have a GMC.
it said i had a 1960 model 3/4 ton. lol for GMC vin decoders, try GMC pauls and the one on this site, i think using both together can help you crack the GMC vin.

the VIN doesn't give very specific information, but it will give you things like 2 or 4 wd, engine type (E= V8, M=V6, S(?)=L6), bed type (if equipped), ass'y plant, model year, sequential #. good luck

well since this is the 67-72 forum...i meant the 5 digit # at the end of our 67-72 VINs that tells when the truck was made (at the particular plant it was made at). I have no idea about '89s.

It worked fine for my truck(I just thought I'd try even though mine is an '89). I just thought it was kind of wierd that my sequential # was 5 instead of in the thousands...
