Bed floor support question....
I have a 71 c10 long fleetside. I took the bed off and need to replace one of the bed floor supports. What is the quickest/easiest way to get the supports off?? I was just thinking of using my 4 1/2" angle grinder and going at it. is that the best way?? Also where is the cheapest place to buy the bedfloor supports?? LMC has them for 40.00. Any chance of finding an original used one that somebody cuts off a bed?? I'm always looking to save a couple of bucks... Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Travis |

Travis, what's up? Grinder would work for floor support removal. Just don't grind through your floor. Were ya able to get any of those parts put on yet? Haven't seen ya on here lately? Have ya been to Mikes yet? Heck of a guy. Been working on my truck. Got the driveshaft in and the fuel lines all hooked up. Been running it trying to break-in the rearend. On stands and letting it run in first & reverse. Later.

I got the trailing arms all painted and on. I pulled the bed off to make it easier to put the trailing arms on and to repair some stuff. I picked up the bedsides from Russ (beagler). I have to patch a little on those and hopefully be getting the bed back on this weekend. The cab deal didn't work out between Mike and I, so no I haven't been there yet. Hopefully there will be another get together soon. My uncle is using that radiator that you gave me, and I will be putting those vent windows in my doors here soon. I will try to post some pics here soon, will probably start a cardomain site for the truck. Just out of curiousity, did you ever find that clock??
later, Travis

I am also looking for supports for my LWB- got a new bed floor from Classic muscle- somebody in one of these boards - in the last few days-posteed pics of his supports- 2" x 3" channel- looked real beefy- I think thats the direction I'm headed- if I can find the thread again.
Good luck. 71 Blazer, 454, 4x4, Auto, Cadillac Crimson Pearl 69 K20 snow plow truck, 396, 4-spd, undergoing radiation treatment. |

yeah, I saw that thread. I called some metal shops around here and it costs $30.00 for a 6ft piece of 2"x3" tubing. the repop. supports are $40, so I figured I would spend the extra $10 and have it look original. Just my opinion though...

You can try GMC Pauls or Tim Christian's or any other board vendor for the part. Probably anyone of them could beat LMC. They have always been high in my book.

Travis, Yea, I found the clock. It was sitting in the cab, still in the packing from getting it repaired. If you're interested, I bought it off a member for $10.00. Paid $20.00 to have it repaired. You can have it for $25.00 plus shipping.

can you send me some pics of that clock?? daily85ss@yahoo.com or just PM me. I found out that GMC Paul as those supports for $30 each. I will probably be buying one real soon. I took the one support off of the floor today. I was using a grinder at first, but it wasn't working real well (my patience didn't help at all). I ended up just going after it with a hammer and chisel. I got a few dings to pound out now and some holes to weld shut, but I am happy with the results.
Later, Travis
