133 inch wheelbase pickup. A standard longbed is 127 inch and a shortbed is 115. A Blazer is 104.
Interesting facts to note: All 1 tons were either 133 inch or 157 inch. The longhorn was really a 133 inch 3/4 ton option. It was marketed to the RV camper market. The added 6 inches accomodated camper bodies better. The fleetside bed was stretched 6 inches and a noticable seam can be seen on longhorn beds on the cab end of it. All longhorns came with factory wood floors, there were no steel floor longhorns. You could also get a 133 inch wheelbase with a stepside body, but these were not referred to as longhorns based upon what I've read.

The only dumb question is one not asked...
A longhorn is a truck that came fromt the factory with a bed that was 6 inches longer than your normal 8 foot bed, hence, it was 102" long, or 8'6. They just took a short section of bed (6 inches) and added it on to your normal 8 foot fleetside bed. Hence, you can see a line where these two sections came together. I'm not sure if it was a package, or an option, or what. i'm sure one of those crazy guru's from around here can answer that.

Everyone is right.
CPNE left out one thing on his thread...the longhorn was avalible as a one ton truck also. The Longhorn is not a package, but it's own model. It has it's own model number. Nothing to laugh at...most ppl don't know about it. I have had ppl tell me that it is bogus and my truck was streatched by an owner. |

I read something recently that there is a leaked version of a new Windows operating software floating around out there on the Internet that is code named "Longhorn"; They know a good name when they see it
Maybe some of the computer guys have heard the same thing

Thanks Nightmare, I was afraid I had imagined that;
Maybe we'll get lucky and they will keep the name Longhorn and then everybody can have one

cochino12, if you are a bit older and was around when these rucks were all over the place, you probably saw a few, just didn't know it.
I recently found out my uncle had one and I even road in it quite a bit. Who woulda guessed that my uncle (a ford man, swears he has ford blue pumping through his veins) introduced me to the chevy longhorn? |

heh heh heh you like that huh? I took that this time last year goofing off. I had removed the hood to do some hinge work and I also dropped the tranny so I could install a 1900 stall verter in there. It looked so cool (IMO anywyas) that I drove it for a few days like that.
HEre is a full size. (you'd be amazed at how much your front clip moves around in traffic when you have no hood to tie it all together.) Cruise around town likr this for a couple days, and you'll be noticed. You'll either get a thumbs up, or a snobby nose in the air...but I'll gurantee, you WILL be noticed in traffic. Here is my son helping me with the verter instalation. (he was 8) I figured since the front and rear seals were both drooling onto the driveway I may as well do them too. |

LOL!!!!
Actually, I just held the digi cam up and aimed it in that general direction...took about 6 pics and saved the best one. That's how most of my digi-pics are taken if I am driving. Digital is awsome, it is great for those of us who can't afford film. |
