83 c10 door swap
Hi I'm new to this site and have a question I just picked up a project 83 Chevy c10 Silverado and it has the power windows but guy was trying to build street truck and all the wires were cut is there anyway to convert them to crank or would it be easier to just replace both doors with a truck with them already? And what years would be interchangeable with that truck also with crank windows

You can convert to all manual. Mine was like that, the previous owner cut all the wire out. You'll have to get manual window regulators, but the door will accept them. You won't have to swap doors for that.

Or you can replace the wiring with a NEW replacement window/lock harness....PM me if you want to go that route.

Re: 83 c10 door swap
How hard was it to swap everything out to manual and what all do I need to do the swap? I know I need to get the window regulators and a crank but how would I go to hooking that up?

Re: 83 c10 door swap
There are videos on youtube that can help guide you thru the process. One of my favorites is 1aauto. And Precision has some good ones. They both have lots of how to videos for 73-87 chevy trucks.
Once you get the door panel off, you'll pretty much see what you'll need to remove to get the old regulator out. The manual will go back in the same way as the power one came out. I've had my doors apart several times for different reasons, and it's not to difficult. Just watch some videos and have patience. |
