Is This Rare???
-
Can I get big money for it?.... .. I was cleaning up an exterior heater box when I noticed this... I found it a little weird. The first picture is the outside and the second picture is the inside. LockDoc

I wonder if it hurt the mold when that fell in it. Sorry, but it's not worth anything to me

Re: Is This Rare???
Put it on eBay as an image of the Virgin Mary cast in your heater box and you will make a fortune.

Re: Is This Rare???
Maybe not as rare as yours, but I have a 5/16 NC x1 bolt with no threads and a 3/8NC Tap that was not heat treated ( talk about a lot of what the ****s!). Anyway that is worth noting I must say!!!

Re: Is This Rare???
Just a sidebar here, but this reminded me of the old ball bearing in a casting thing that us machinists have ran into a time or two and it tears h** outa tools!
The most significant i saw was a guy turning a very large cast steel spindle about 18 inches in diameter for a large crane turnstyle. The lathe was a big heavy Warner Swasey 3 A with about a 25 horse motor and the thing would take some big heavy cuts. Sounded like a bulldozer running when it was cutting those big spindles. Alla sudden one day CLUNK!!! CHINKA CHING CHANK CHUNKA POW!!!!! The machinist stopped the old girl and every one came outa the woodwork ( they seem to do that when somethin goes wrong, then you're realy in the limelight!) To sum it all up, as every one gathered around to see, there it was in that spindle as pretty as could be, an AC 45 spark plug (good enuff guess as brand and heat) ceramic ceranged the cutter and wiped out the insert holder just so neat!!! ASure enough in the melt was that 283!!!! |

Re: Is This Rare???
Now to find out who has the bolt. Someone might actually have a bolt still in there.

Re: Is This Rare???
I`m no paleantologist, but I know a rare fossil when I see it.I believe it`s from the Muscle Car Age.My non-educated guess says it`s some form of crude fastener modeled from a metallic substance from ancient times when vehicles were made mostly from steel and these steel parts would not hold together with snap-locks that we see our highly evolved plastic components fastened with today.

Funny there Woody.
I always wondered where bolts came from.My parents never explained it to me.Looks like another is about to be born.
