72 C10 to C20 Booster Conversion?
I have a C10 Super with the factory power disc brakes. I am considering swapping out the 1/2 brake booster for a 3/4 ton booster. I did a search but I wasn't sure about a few things so I still have a few questions.
Do I have to change out the 1/2 ton master cylinder for a 3/4 ton master and prop valve? I would like to just change out the booster only if possible. Will the 1/2 ton rod and mounting bracket bolt work with the 3/4 ton booster? Thanks |

You need to change.. booster.. brackets.. master cylinder and lines to the proportioning valve.. I do believe the prop valves are the same..

Re: 72 C10 to C20 Booster Conversion?
We used the 3/4 ton prop valve because the the 3/4 ton master cylinder hooks to the prop valve reverse to the 1/2 ton. (The 3/4 ton M/C rear reservoir goes to the front of the prop valve and the front reservoir goes to the rear of the prop valve. Attached is a pic showing the installation of a 3/4 ton set up on a 1/2 ton truck.

So the 1/2 ton master won't even bolt up to the 3/4 ton booster? Or they are not compatible for some reason?

The Master cylinder will bolt on but the rod is different preventing it from functioning..
Here is a link to a post I did awhile back with all the differences.. you will have to scroll down a bit.. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=214559 |

Thanks Livrat!
That post tells it all and should be in the FAQ if it isn't already. |
