Help with throttle cable

I have a 1971 Chevy C30. It was given to me by my step Dad. It has a 400 small block with 4 speed in the floor. The quad that was on it didn't work to good and the divorce chock spring was broken so no chock. A friend gave me a practically new Edelbrock carb. It runs fine but I cant get the stock throttle cable to work. Its like it is to long. Any advise on how to fix it.

Re: Help with throttle cable

See if you can get the original throttle cable bracket to fit. It may require some bending, but to make the cable, return spring and kickdown not look like a hack job when converting from a Q-Jet, you either need to get creative or spend $$$. I did one on a chevelle - converted over from Q-Jet to edelbrock, it was trial and error. On my truck I went from a Q-jet to a demon (edelbrock/thermoquad) and used a Q-jet bracket I tweaked.

Re: Help with throttle cable

I ordered a new throttle cable but its like the cable is to long. I think I am going to have to fabricate the bracket to move it back so the cable will not be to long.

Re: Help with throttle cable

Here are some photos of my 67 with a 1975 c10 pedal and cable. Edelbrock on a Street Dominator and same carb on a factory manifold. I don't know what year the bracket came off of , but it is a common piece.
I hope this helps.
